ACHC is a Federally Qualified Health Center and licensed primary care clinic. We provide Family Medicine and Dental Care, with additional specialists in Behavioral Health, Chiropractic, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Gynecology, Pediatrics, Podiatry and Optometry. ACHC Clinics are located across Fresno, Kings and Tulare counties. The Registered Dental Hygienist is responsible for promoting dental health by completing dental prophylaxis; providing oral cancer screening and radiographic studies; charting conditions of decay and disease; performing procedures in compliance with the dental practice act. RESPONSIBILITIES Assists in the oral health management of all clinic patients. Obtains baseline oral hygiene assessment data based upon accepted principles of oral hygiene and periodontal care. Records patient-hygienist transactions as they occur in the patient's dental record so that the dental record accurately and completely reflects the nature of the contact, the condition of the patient and the care or treatment provided. Provides oral health education and appropriate individual counseling for all center dental patients. Provides clinical oral hygiene services including dental prophylaxis, scaling, sealant application and fluoride application consistent with accepted professional practices and standards and in compliance with applicable state law and the center's clinical protocols. Integration of appropriate patient dental hygiene care with other heal care professionals involved in the patient's health care management. Organizes and performs preventive oral health presentations at on-site and off-site locations. Assists in the provision of technical assistance and health education in the community as requested. Performs independent procedures as delegated and directed by a dentist in accordance with state regulations and law as well as Dental Department protocol and directive. Assists in the maintenance of all Dental Department areas in compliance with Dental Department directive and policies as well as center policies and procedures relative to infection control, exposure control and safety issues. Receives and places necessary telephone calls consistent with professional matters, clinic business and patient care of the Dental Department. Insures the proper disposal of all contaminated or potentially contaminated materials in accordance with Dental Department directive and center policy as well as state federal regulations(s). Complies in full with the center's Exposure Control Plan. Responsible for personal compliance with all applicable federal, state, local and center rules, regulations, protocols and procedures governing the practice of dental hygiene and the clinical provision of dental hygiene services as well as those relating to, but not limited to, personnel issues, work place safety, public health and confidentiality. This may include preparing and presenting scheduled lectures to staff. · Maintain a record of patient treatment and number of patients treated. · Record oral condition of teeth and supporting tissues, type of therapy provided and progress notes. · Clean and maintain instruments and ensure their sterility. · Treat acute necrotizing ulcerative gingivitis. · Assist in Oral Diagnosis Sick call to include exposing and developing periapical, bitewing and panoral radiographs. · Clean and maintain the work area to meet the clinic's standards, and may be assigned other duties as directed by the Commanding Officer, consistent with the normal duties of a dental hygienist (not to include mopping, sweeping or taking trash to an industrial dumpster). · Administration of local anesthesia (infiltration and block anesthesia) is not a required qualification; however, if the appropriate background training and credentials exist, clinical privileges may be granted. **HOURS:** · Services shall be provided Monday through Friday, between the hours of 0630 - 1630 hours. No federal holidays. · Shifts will normally be scheduled for an 8.5 hour to 9-hour period, to include an uncompensated 30-to-60-minute lunch break, respectively. · In no instance will HCW be required to provide services of more than 80 hours per two-week period. **Base Down Days:** During a planned closure of the facility due to training, closures before or after holidays family down days, Employee will only be compensated for the actual hours worked. ACHC is a Federally Qualified Health Center and licensed primary care clinic. We provide Family Medicine and Dental Care, with additional specialists in Behavioral Health, Chiropractic, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Pediatrics, Podiatry and Optometry. The Registered Dental Hygienist is responsible for promoting dental health by completing dental prophylaxis; providing oral cancer screening and radiographic studies; charting conditions of decay and disease; performing procedures in compliance with the dental practice act. RESPONSIBILITIES Assists in the oral health management of all clinic patients. Obtains baseline oral hygiene assessment data based upon accepted principles of oral hygiene and periodontal care.
