Responsibilities and Duties Provides prophylactic care and preventive care, including topical fluoride and application of occlusal sealants. Exposes and develops radiographs. Provides oral hygiene education to patients on an individual basis and in groups when feasible and appropriate. Assures hazardous chemicals are labeled and proper Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are on file Develops educational programs with the Dental Director. Participates in continuing education on and off site as feasible and appropriate. Assists chair-side in delivery of dental treatment when other staff are out or when heavy patient load exists to include cleaning and readying dental operatories. Takes alginate impressions, pours and trim study models. Qualifications and Skills Graduate of a dental hygienist training program. Certified Hygienist with current Registered Dental Hygienist license in good standing with the North Carolina Board of Dental Examiners. Knowledge of the state of North Carolina's requirements for dental hygienists. Knowledge of safety and infection control standards applicable to a dental setting.
