Press Assistants provide additional support within the Press Department and are responsible for assisting their crew by stacking and bundling printed products in preparation for shipping as well as assisting in operating web-fed offset printing press, performing other in-line finishing operations as assigned, and helping to prepare and maintain the presses.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist printing machine operators and learn to safely and effectively operate an industrial press machine.
Inspect products (such as magazines, books, and portfolios) against provided layouts and proofs to ensure high quality and accuracy.
Perform routine machine maintenance, install, clean, and adjust rollers and the press, and troubleshoot equipment issues to keep production running smoothly.
Complete required paperwork and perform data entry related to job tasks.
Follow all plant policies and safety procedures while ensuring efficient production and quality service.
Perform other duties as assigned.

1 - 3 years of previous manufacturing/office experience preferred

As a Digital Print Production Operator, you will be responsible for job setup and printing using our cut-sheet digital printers. You will be in charge of calibrating printers and color-matching projects against our client's Pantone colors / previous jobs. Digital Print Production Operator Responsibilities:
Responsible for operatingdigital commercial printers using Fiery Command Workstation.
Assisting in our large format department with installations & production work when available
Responsible for imposing files for print & running USPS mail software
Works with Production Scheduler to prioritize and manage daily job production
Produces orders accurately, efficiently, and quickly while maintaining the highest quality standards
Updates job status and location in MIS system
Always runs a proof copy and compares it to the work order
Controls waste and redos by quality-checking jobs as they are being produced
Completes Quality Assurance documents for all printed jobs
Tracks waste, spoilage, usage, and inventory for all digital printing machines
Maintains all Digital Printing Equipment logs
Maintains a clean and organized work environment
Performs all required maintenance and learns extended maintenance from the technician.
Ensures that all service “clicks” are credited by the service technician in each call, including credit for poor-quality copies
Calibrates and manages all color devices as required to maintain color consistency.
Monitors color consistency during all print runs and make adjustments as necessary.

Digital printing experience preferred
Ability to organize several activities and tasks concurrently.
Ability to work flexible hours and overtime, if needed
Ability to maximize profit through the efficient use of time and equipment
Can perform basic bindery functions
Familiar and comfortable with Fiery Print Controller, a plus
Is proficient with the use of Command Workstation (if applicable) to control digital workflow
Graphic design skills are a plus but not necessary
Customer service experience is a plus but not necessary

Mittera is looking for a full-time Press Assistant to join our growing team! Press Assistants provide additional support within the Press Department and are responsible for assisting their crew by loading/unloading printed products in preparation for shipping as well as assisting in operating sheet-fed offset printing press, performing other in-line finishing operations as assigned, and helping to prepare and maintain the presses.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Set and adjust feeder to run in register without tripping off.
Get or make ready skids to deliver through press.
Dispose of make ready when directed to do so by press operator.
Follow the ticket and make rule out check that trim lines are accurate.
Check that counts are accurate along with ups and outs.
While running keep constant eye on feeder to adjust.
Cut down cardboard for pallets and make boxes as necessary.
Keep ink fountains with plenty of ink as directed by pressman.
Always keep work area and areas around the press clean by picking up paper, cleaning equipment and other areas as directed, sweeping, and mopping areas as needed and directed
Help press operator with press, washing blankets, cleaning, and maintenance.
Assist operator in hanging plates
Assist operator in setups and make-ready, including but not limited to hanging blankets, feeder setup, coater setup, check water fountain solution, get PMS ink if needed from shelf etc.
Follow all PPE and safety procedures assist operator, and department in identifying areas for improvement in safety
Perform quality check for any printing issues, missing color, scumming, etc. and alert operator of any issues found
Perform preventative maintenance on stacker, tying machines, and other equipment
Cross train in other roles as assigned by supervisor
Ensure production meets department goals and metrics
Always keep and leave area clean
Perform other duties as assigned

Skills and Abilities
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
1 - 3 years of previous manufacturing/office experience preferred
Full comprehension in reading work instructions and business memos
Effective communications skills with all levels within the organization
Ability to use basic math skills, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, measurements and critical thinking, to solve practical problems

+ Operate small- and large-format printers, multifunction slitters/cutters, and finish projects end-to-end (lamination, foam-core mounting, decal installs, binding, grommeting)

+ Coordinate project details, status updates, and feedback with the Print Services Manager
