Performs work as part of a team in an industrial laundry facility. Responsible for the safe, expeditious, and accurate handling of merchandise into and/or out of the laundry facility.
• Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

Becomes familiar with the garment numbering system (GID) and shipping schedule board; Follows a shipping schedule and knows the initial step to separate garments into routes for specific sort area (first, second, or third); Removes garments from supply rail, places on the appropriate conveyor or placard hook by route (first sort), by last man numbered (second sort), or by customer number (third sort); Hangs all shirts of the same route then hangs all pants before proceeding to the next batch/bar; Removes odd garments and places them in the correct space on the odd numbered garment bar; Informs the supervisor of any quality, mechanical, or shipping schedule problems; Watches the end of the supply bars for falling garments and re-hangs fallen garments on appropriate bar; Stops the line when jams or other problems occur further down the line and for breaks; Monitors garments for wrinkles and removes garments not meeting specified quality standards in terms of ink stains, tears, holes, missing buttons, or loose tags; Maintains safe and clean work environment, and observes best practices in all production activities; Other duties as assigned.

• Working Environment/Safety Requirements:

Work is performed in a warehouse setting and regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, extreme heat and cold conditions as well as dust and noise. Work is based on a shift schedule, and may include weekends. Overtime required as needed. Physical Requirements Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Position involves repetitive motions over the duration of an entire shift; Requires continuous reaching at shoulder and/or overhead level; Requires the use of hands for grasping and other manipulations; Requires standing and walking for long periods of time.

In this position, you will work as a front-line technician ensuring the efficient and reliable delivery of clean and healthy drinking water to the City. An example of a work day may include:

  • Checking alarms, water levels, and other operational functions via our computerized monitoring system called SCADA;
  • Driving to water sources such as wells, well houses, and tanks to physically observe and treat water at the distribution source;
  • Receiving, investigating, and responding to citizen inquiries regarding lack of water, leaks, high or low pressure, unusual noise, etc.;
  • Respond to water line breaks or other dysfunctions in the underground infrastructure and piping system to identify cause;
  • Secure work zones using traffic control techniques;
  • Performs skilled labor to repair the infrastructure including securing water line for repair; reviewing mapping and GIS systems to identify other underground utilities; using heavy equipment such as a backhoe to dig to water line; replacing piping and other utility systems;
  • Installing water meters, boxes, lids, connections, meters, etc.
  • Replacing defective parts of regulators, adjusting valves, and similar maintenance tasks;
  • Setting pressure gauges and testing backflow prevention devices;
  • Installing fire hydrants, valves, regulators and other water devices;
  • Taking water samples and sending for laboratory analysis;
  • Entering confined spaces; and,
  • Preparing reports and other records as needed.

To be considered, you will need a high school diploma (or equivalent) and must possess and maintain a valid Utah State Driver License (or obtain within 1 month) and a driving record acceptable to Tooele City's insurability and risk management standards. As a condition of employment, you'll need to obtain a Class B CDL (with valid medical card) within six (6) months of assignment to position and maintain them; Utah Certified Level I Water Distribution Operator within one year of assignment to position (or next reasonable testing period as specified by the supervisor). You must be able and willing to respond to emergency call-outs within the time periods specified in City or department policies which may limit residency options. Must be able and willing to work weekends, or split shifts, mornings or afternoons (not rotation), and holidays.


Pre-employment DOT drug screen required. Must possess and maintain a Utah Driver License and driving record acceptable to Tooele City's risk management and insurability standards; must be able and willing to respond to call-outs; must be able to pass a comprehensive background check.

Qualifications:

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drive forklift in a safe and productive manner. Complete the daily forklift inspection and remove the lift from service if a defect is detected.
  • Ship and receive product damage free and accurately.
  • Monitor the floor for safety concerns or infractions and act appropriately.
  • Complete all documents and paperwork completely and accurately.
  • Fill customer orders accurately and follow the customer's special instructions.
  • Prep and close doors by following the inbound and outbound procedures.
  • Work very closely with the office staff to ensure discrepancies and issues are completed accurately.
  • Verify Hot List loads.
  • Ensure warehouse is organized, clean, damages are taken care of and pallets are off the floor and placed into bins.
  • Promote teamwork within your team and between teams by communicating in a positive and pleasant manner.
  • Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP's, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety
  • Responsible for Food Safety and Food Quality of MFI products.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensures regulatory compliance at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

High school diploma or G.E.D or an equivalent combination of education and experience

A minimum of six months experience in a palletized warehouse environment is preferred.

Good Inter-Personal skills are required.

The successful completion of Powered Industrial Truck training program and pass the forklift certification.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Effectively read, write and speak English.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Strong math and configuration is necessary

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to analyze situations and make the best decision which benefits the company without jeopardizing the health and well being of the employee.
