Overview An R&D Technician, under general supervision and/or using detailed procedures/work instructions, safely performs a variety of mechanical tasks in support of R&D projects. Work involves installation, modification, preventive, and corrective maintenance of R&D mechanical systems. Responsibilities Installation of Swagelok fractional tubing, insulation, and tubing components such as valves, regulators, and gauges. Use Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) to install threaded and flanged piping and other process equipment. Installation of Autoclave Engineers cone and threaded tubing and tubing components Set up and perform pneumatic and hydrostatic pressure testing. Perform non-code welding to fabricate or repair non-critical items and provide custom sheet metal forming/work. Use machine shop equipment such as a Horizontal / Vertical Bandsaw, electronic belt sander, and metal shear to cut metal. Performs compressed gas cylinder deliveries. Perform penetrations and securing materials to assemble/erect structures, all per policy. Perform hoisting and rigging of large equipment. Install common stock materials such as fasteners, struts, sheet metal, etc. Operate forklift, manlifts, skid steer loader, etc. Use Lock-out Tag-out (LOTO) plans to ensure work is performed safely. Maintaining facilities in clean, safe, and orderly condition. Collaborate effectively with other team members to resolve issues and ensure quality adherence principals are being met. Adhere to NETL SARS policies and procedures while conducting work duties. Other duties as assigned to ensure timely project execution. Qualifications Minimum Responsibilities/Requirements Vocational/technical training beyond high school Minimum of five (5) years of job-related experience or equivalent. Ability to understand Engineering drawings and documents that will allow for the safe and efficient installation of projects. Must be able to pass the NETL Swagelok certification test. (Company training will be provided.) Computer / Software Skills - proficiently utilizing Microsoft Outlook email, Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat, payroll time entry, and complete required online training. Good attendance, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work as part of a team or independently. Ability to follow oral / written instructions, exercise good judgement to complete assignments on time. Work safely under general supervision, exercise good judgement, and manage time to complete assignments. Good verbal and written communication. Must have a valid U.S. driver's license. Preferred Responsibilities/Requirements At least seven (7) years of job-related experience or equivalent. Work Environment/Physical Demands Work Environment Most positions involve work in environments (e.g., projects, labs, outside locations, etc. where mechanical equipment is being installed, tested, analyzed, monitored, or operated and / or maintained. Equipment may be loud and noisy and or have exposed moving components. Physical Demands Such positions may involve routine lifting, up to 50 pounds. Able to perform all the typical repetitive physical requirements such as: walking, pushing, pulling, handling, grasping, kneeling, working overhead. Able to work in awkward positions for extended periods of time or in confined spaces. Constant use of vision and mental alertness is required. Integrated Safety Management Observe and follow all corporate, federal, state and site environmental safety and health (ES&H) policies and procedures that pertain to the job classification being performed. Perform only those tasks in which you have the required training, competence, knowledge, skills, and abilities to prevent injury to one's-self, other employees, the public, or the environment. Hazard and situational awareness for ES&H risks associated with the work. Perform work safely in accordance with hazard controls. Report all unsafe operations, and, if necessary, exercise stop-work authority in cases of imminent danger. Must wear proper PPE as required and ensure PPE is in acceptable condition. Keep office space, operating area, control room, mechanical room, warehouse etc. clean and orderly. Attend all safety meetings and stay current with assigned required training. Maintain active involvement in the introduction, revision, and/or promotion of ES&H/ISM program activities. Hours of Work This is typically an 8-hour per day, five days per week daylight schedule. Overtime on nights, weekends, and holidays may be required to meet client needs. Drug Free Workplace E2 Federal Services, LLC is a Drug Free Workplace.
