Our mission is to develop and produce realistic training tools that provide the realism demanded by our military and emergency medical clients. In addition to the realism, true training tools need to be a complement to training exercises, not a piece that demand time and attention. This NAR Associate will participate as a TEAM member within the Simulations department and help facilitate smooth processes among other team members.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
This is not an all-inclusive list of duties and responsibilities. Projects/duties may be change as dictated by the needs of the business.
3-D Modeling skills. Ability to design mechanical parts and small subsystems with guidance from senior engineering staff. Familiarity with AutoCAD 360 is a plus, but applicable experience with other packages such as Solidworks, NX, Pro-E, Creo, or CATIA is acceptable.
2-D Drafting skills. Ability to create detailed 2-D drawings of parts and sub-assemblies is essential. Familiarity with GD&T is a plus, but not required (will train as needed).
Hands-on prototyping skills. Familiarity with safe use of basic hand tools for building/modifying prototypes is essential (screwdrivers, hammers, files, saws, hand drills, Dremel, soldering iron, etc.). The ability to observe and follow shop safety protocols when in the workshop area is a must.
Familiarity with additive manufacturing methods is a definite advantage. We maintain an on-site 3D printer farm for prototyping and short-run manufacturing. If you dont have prior experience with 3D printing, please bring a desire to learn (will train as needed).

**About the Role**
Caterpillar's Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Order-to-Delivery (MSOD) Intern program seeks students currently enrolled in a four-year university to work alongside manufacturing professionals to learn and apply themselves to project work within their teams.
Interns will have assignments that provide them with experience and significant learning opportunities. In addition to this work, Interns can network with management throughout the company to learn about Caterpillar areas outside their assigned team. Students can deepen their business skills in their assignments through team and business partner interactions, develop their skills, conduct presentations, and measure their success through the performance and evaluation process.
**What You Will Do**

+ **Manufacturing** **Engineering ** : Responsible and accountable for enhancements and modifications to equipment and processes in our facilities, monitoring equipment and process reliability, identifying and addressing problem areas and providing engineering support on equipment, processes, or facilities
+ **Quality** : Analyzing non-conformance data and maintaining quality system documentation. Participating in and offering technical support to internal and external audits; following up response of corrective action from audit. Interacting with manufacturing team members to determinethe root cause of quality issues and ensure that corrective and preventive action is implemented.
+ **Automation:** Collecting and researching data on customer experience with robotic platforms. Documenting architecture specifications, software design description, verification plans, test cases, operating procedures, and safety procedures. Utilizing appropriate tools to debug, test and maintain software and hardware systems of robotic tools; assisting in the verification and validation process. Participating in design and development of application software and algorithms for robotic platforms.

+ Must have 30 completed semester hours before the start of the internship.
+ If a transfer student must have 12 semester hours completed at a 4-year university.
+ Minimum 2.8/4.0 Cumulative Grade Point Average (no rounding) at current institution.
+ Must be able to relocate to indicated work location for the duration of the internship and complete daily work commute using reliable transportation.

ABOUT NAR Simulation
Our mission is to develop and produce realistic training tools that provide the realism demanded by our military and emergency medical clients. In addition to the realism, true training tools need to be a complement to training exercises, not a piece that demand time and attention. Training sessions are effective, both in cost and in educational value, when they can be repeated with minimal interruption - they must serve the greatest number for the greatest amount of time.
This NAR Associate will participate as a TEAM member within the Simulations department and help facilitate smooth processes among other team members.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
This is not an all-inclusive list of duties and responsibilities. Projects/duties may be change as dictated by the needs of the business.
3-D Modeling skills. Ability to design mechanical parts and small subsystems with guidance from senior engineering staff. Familiarity with AutoCAD 360 is a plus, but applicable experience with other packages such as Solidworks, NX, Pro-E, Creo, or CATIA is acceptable.
2-D Drafting skills. Ability to create detailed 2-D drawings of parts and sub-assemblies is essential. Familiarity with GD&T is a plus, but not required (will train as needed).
Hands-on prototyping skills. Familiarity with safe use of basic hand tools for building/modifying prototypes is essential (screwdrivers, hammers, files, saws, hand drills, Dremel, soldering iron, etc.). The ability to observe and follow shop safety protocols when in the workshop area is a must.
Familiarity with additive manufacturing methods is a definite advantage. We maintain an on-site 3D printer farm for prototyping and short-run manufacturing. If you don't have prior experience with 3D printing, please bring a desire to learn (will train as needed).
Punctual and dependable. As a student position, work scheduling is flexible relative to your class schedule, but once hours are set for the semester adherence to the agreed upon schedule is expected.
Job responsibilities require use of on-site materials and equipment, therefore this position is not considered eligible for remote work. Reliable transportation to and from our LaGrange, KY facility is required.

Education
