Our Test interns work with a team of engineers and industry professionals to develop and test Rockwell hardware and optimize industrial operations. You will have the opportunity to be a significant contributor, while getting comprehensive exposure to the business structure of Rockwell Automation and how we are helping our customers bring the Connected Enterprise to life. Our test roles fall into 2 categories:
Electrical Development: Research new or replacement technologies and components, assist in circuit design and component selection, develop test requirements and execute hardware verification test plans for board level functional testing, EMC validation, Certification Agency compliance (UL, ATEX, IECEX), and Functional Safety (IEC 61508). Perform programming, analysis, and troubleshooting of electronic hardware prototypes. Contribute to associated product design documentation and test reports.
Electrical and Firmware Test: if you like pushing products to their limits to meet the rigid standards of industrial components, you will be interested in these activities, which include: design and development of scripts for automating test procedures, documenting of test procedures, execution of test procedures for verification of product functionality (manual/automated), creation of test reports, assistance with lab audit/improvement activities, assist with build and commissioning of test hardware platforms

The Essentials - You Will Have:
Must be pursuing a bachelor's or advanced degree from an accredited college or university.
Must be enrolled for at least one more semester after the internship concludes.

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:
Pursuing a bachelor's or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or similar from an accredited college or university in the greater Milwaukee area.

Experience with Power Electronics or motors
Experience with design capture tools,
Be able to work with schematic drawings
Basic knowledge of circuit theory and operation, including microprocessors, digital logic devices, analog and/or DC-power conversion, programmable devices (CPLDs, FPGAs)
Basic programming (C++, C#, Java, Python or JavaScript)
Familiarity with tools such as CAD, Creoparametic, ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), 3D Modeling, SAP, Matlab
Experience with industrial automation environments including PLC or drives programming
Experience using Agile methodology

The hourly rate provided is intended to display the value of the company's base rate compensation for all statewide locations across the United States. For this role, the Base Salary Compensation is from $22/hour - $32/hour. Our benefits for the US can be found here. Actual pay will be based on factors such as skills, knowledge, education, and experience.

Duties and Responsibilities
* Assist the engineering team in day-to-day operations, including part specification creation, SolidWorks drawing updates, bill of materials (BOM) changes, and part specification revisions.
* Learn company and industry engineering practices, design principles, and product knowledge to support general engineering tasks.
* Utilize design software and proprietary techniques to analyze designs and gain an understanding of transformer construction.
* Collaborate with production floor staff and lab personnel to learn testing procedures, quality requirements, and aspects of mass production.
* Analyze new and existing designs to identify cost-saving opportunities and production improvements.
* Prepare engineering packets that include customer drawings, similar unit references, applicable industry standards, and producibility considerations.
* Support mass-update projects for older product series, including updates to drawings, kit sheets, BOMs, and process sheets.
* All work is to be reviewed and approved by senior engineers.
* Works directly under the engineering manager and receives guidance from senior engineers.
Qualifications:
* Education: Currently enrolled in a 2-4 year college program in engineering, physics, or a related field.
* Experience: 0-4 years of relevant experience in manufacturing, engineering, or physics.

This position requires on-site work at our Oshkosh, WI facility during standard hours: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
