    The Need: This Scope of Work outlines the responsibilities, qualifications, and terms for a contract Mechanical Engineer/Maintenance Technician position within the a mixing department. The role focuses on ensuring reliable operation, maintenance, and optimization of mechanical systems and equipment used in rubber processing and mixing operations. The contractor will provide hands-on technical support, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and support production efficiency. This is a contract position with an expected duration of 1 year, subject to extension based on performance and business needs. The candidate will be considered for a Full-Time position after the six-month period. Long-Term Contract opportunity: YES Location: This is a full-time ONSITE position at our client's site in Ft Wayne, Indianna Work Schedule: Normal work hours 40 hrs/ week Monday - Friday, however occasional shifts in schedules can be made to provide coverage for project installations and start-ups requiring weekend or holiday coverage. Overtime work may be approved as needed but will not be typical. Work Plant Shutdowns as needed. This work almost always falls on weekends & Holidays. Work schedules will vary based on project need and assignment. Must Have Requirements: Education and Experience: Associate degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance within a manufacturing environment. Notes: Bachelor's degree preferred. Millwright Journeyman or relevant experience will be considered in place of an associate's degree. Experience of at least 2 years specifically in rubber processing, mixing operations, or millwright services strongly preferred. Familiarity with PLC basics for integration with mechanical systems is a plus. Certifications: Valid certifications such as Certified Maintenance & Reliability Technician (CMRT), or OSHA 10/30. Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, ability to work independently or in a team, with effective communication for reporting issues to management. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for extended periods, and work in a fast-paced industrial environment with exposure to chemicals, noise, and varying temperatures.
