Environmental Program Manager Role
AWS Environmental is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on by supporting all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that keep the cloud running. We tackle the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain, and we're looking for talented individuals who want to help.
You will:
- Partner with AWS stakeholders to develop regional and site-specific development strategies for the construction and operation of AWS data centers and infrastructure.
- Provide technical assistance and risk management support to construction managers and partner teams, and promote and manage environmental compliance during construction, specifically focusing on protection of sensitive environmental resources, wetland permit compliance and construction stormwater NPDES permit compliance (including erosion and sediment control).
- Prepare for data center operations.
- Engage regularly throughout the construction phase with multiple AWS stakeholders, including Real Estate, Legal, Risk, Water, Design, Public Policy, Construction, and Operational teams, as well as external stakeholders such as regulatory agencies, consultants, and contractors.
Key job responsibilities
- Assess environmental risks and requirements and develop mitigations and strategies to support site-specific project delivery.
- Manage environmental compliance during construction, specifically focusing on wetlands permits and erosion and sediment control.
- Communicate environmental requirements, risks, and activities to internal and external project partners.
- Coordinate with partner teams including Design, Water, Legal, Risk, Power, and others to manage construction and operational constraints.
- Develop site development strategies that are environmentally responsible and sustainable while meeting project timelines.
- Lead regulatory agency interactions and negotiations.
- Develop, manage, and track metrics to evaluate project success.

The AWS Environmental Construction Compliance team manages the environmental requirements during data center and infrastructure development in the Americas. The Environmental PM will be a key member of the AWS Environmental team managing the construction phase of the projects.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, biology, or related discipline.
7+ years managing permitting, and compliance for new developments.
5+ years environmental construction oversight
3+ years erosion and sediment control managment during construction
Preferred Qualifications
Data center or critical infrastructure construction, and/or or risk assessment experience strongly preferred.
Experience in multiple states within the US.
Experience managing and/or supporting community/public interactions.
Experience with Smartsheets or other project management software.
Up to 25% domestic travel
Experience working with large teams on a diverse slate of projects.

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an experienced Environmental Project Manager to manage projects and oversee environmental permitting and due diligence within our Midwest Region. This position will require a thorough knowledge of the federal, state, and local permitting requirements associated with the development and construction of new projects throughout the U.S. in market sectors such as oil and gas, electric, and renewables.
Project management responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Execution of and project management for multiple environmental projects which include multi-faceted components.
The ideal candidate will use a background in the ecological sciences (wetland delineations, habitat studies, etc) and a thorough understanding of Clean Water Act Section 404 permitting, Rivers and Harbors Act Section 10 permitting, leading consultation under the Endangered Species Act and the National Historic Preservation Act.
Participate in business development activities including the development of proposals and cost estimates for new projects, development of and participation in client-facing presentations, and manage existing relationships with existing clients while contributing to the expansion of our growing Texas business.
Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to less experienced staff members.
Additional responsibilities include:
+ Lead project teams on a variety of tasks, including completion of field surveys, environmental permitting with federal, state and local agencies, review of necessary project reports and materials.
+ Interface daily with various agencies to obtain approvals, submit permit applications and prepare responses in a timely manner.
+ Daily interfacing with clients to develop relationships, build business, and expand services to new clients.
+ Manage work within budget and schedule expectations for each project.
+ Apply technical and creative solutions to environmental permitting and due diligence.
+ Advise clients of appropriate strategies to obtain permits and maintain compliance with regulations and permit conditions.
+ Provide guidance on regulations and permitting through USACE, USEPA, and various state and local regulations pertaining to the environmental permitting of new projects.
+ Publish technical papers and deliver presentations at conferences.
+ Travel may be required as necessary and required by project or client commitments.

**Qualifications**
+ B.S. or M.S. in environmental science, environmental planning, or environmental/civil engineering preferred with at least 7 years (10 years preferred) of applicable experience successfully executing and managing various environmental permitting projects.
+ Experience in multiple market sectors is a plus with an emphasis on electric utility, renewable, and oil & gas facility markets. The applicant should possess experience in leading negotiations with regulators pertaining to environmental permitting requirements.
+ The preferred applicant will also possess knowledge of regulations and permitting requirements for wetlands, threatened and endangered species, stormwater, and erosion & sediment control, cultural resources and architectural history, the National Environmental Policy Act, and FERC 7C Filings. Technical expertise in one or more of these fields required.
+ The successful candidate must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to collaborate with a team.
+ Ability to manage in a dynamic team environment, work under pressure to meet deadlines, and work effectively and professionally with various audiences (i.e., regulators, public officials, clients, etc.).

* Interact and collaborate with staff members on a variety of projects
