We are excited to be adding this new Environmental Rehabilitation Lead role to Alcoa's Mining Operations in Western Australia (WA)!

Reporting to the Environmental Manager, you will be responsible for;
Ensuring Alcoa meet internal standards and regulatory conditions and commitments for forest rehabilitation,Leading a team of professionals to develop operational environmental rehabilitation plans from clearing to closure in accordance with Alcoa's Forest to Forest approach to mining,Working closely with the mine planning, operational, research, plant production and corporate teams to ensure high rehabilitation standards are upheld throughout the life of mine,Leading the continual improvement of rehabilitation practices to continue to strive for industry best practice.

The key objectives of this role are to ensure that the rehabilitation targets (e.g., hectares/year rehabilitation, and species richness) are met or exceeded.

Working Monday to Friday each week, you will be primarily based at the WA Mining Hub in Pinjarra, centrally located to our two bauxite mines, Huntly and Willowdale.

# Project Overview

The ML2 Project involves the design and construction of a launch platform for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The purpose of ML2, located at Kennedy Space Center (KSC), is to provide a launch platform for the Space Launch System (SLS). ML2 includes many different subsystems that must operate and fit within the constraints of the structure and provide physical interface with KSC launch sites' ground systems.Bechtel has a strong commitment to protecting people and the environment as part of its mission, and is known for industry leadership in Environmental, Safety, and Health (ES&H). ES&H teams are comprised of three distinct disciplines that support our ES&H Management System and processes at project sites and offices. These teams include environmental scientists, safety professionals, and industrial hygiene scientists. Collectively, they provide technical guidance and perform planning, risk assessment, inspections and monitoring, training, and data management.An opportunity exists to work within the ES&H team at our ML2 Project located at KSC in Cape Canaveral, FL.

# Position Summary

Responsible for the implementation of the environmental management program on the ML2 project. Provides technical oversight of the project's environmental compliance activities through identification and integration of applicable environmental requirements into project designs, subcontract bid specifications, construction plans and schedules and all other field execution activities. Works directly with other project-level functional leads (e.g., engineering, construction, subcontracts, procurement, project controls, document controls) to assist them in integrating and/or addressing the applicable environmental requirements in their work products and activities. Reports operationally to the project ES&H Manager. Functionally reports to the corporate Manager of Environmental Services.

# Responsibilities

+ Develops and executes the project-level environmental management program.

+ Provides assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project environmental requirements and in addressing environmental issues as they arise during project execution.

+ Coordinates with and provides technical assistance to other project-assigned functional leads (e.g., engineering, subcontracts, procurement, project controls) with regards to compliance with project-specific environmental requirements.

+ Prepares technical reports and permit applications.

+ Participates in emergency response, and aids investigation and resolution of ES&H incidents.

+ Performs environmental monitoring, sampling, and inspections to confirm compliance with permits and project requirements and commitments.

+ Prepares training documents and helps with ES&H training for project employees and visitors.

+ Builds relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

+ Participates in meetings with customers, project team members, and contractors/subcontractors to advise them of environmental requirements that may affect project design, schedule, and cost.

**Basic Qualifications**

Provides high level technical assistance and guidance for the collection, identification, compiling, and analysis of observational and spatial data concerning a variety of biological, physical, and earth sciences. Provides support and guidance for multi-site/phase environmental work and environmental permitting projects. Develops processes and infrastructure relating to water supply, air emission, pollution control, cultural impact, and preserving the quality of the environment by identifying, controlling, and preventing disruption to environmental systems and species caused by human activity. Ensures that documentation and recommendations accurately describe the results of analyses and addresses environmental impact and long-term ecological risks. Assists project leadership with environmental impact assessment, corrective/mitigation strategy development, permitting, and/or restoration activities. Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards.

**Your Impact**

+ Determine well-defined data collection methods for identifying and compiling observational, spatial, and environmental data from samples of air, soil, water, sludge, and other matrices for projects, investigations, and surveys.

**Who You Are**

**Required Qualifications**

+ Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology, Ecology, Natural Resource Management, or a related life sciences field.

+ At least 10 years of experience working as an environmental scientist/engineer/geologist and completing environmental surveys, fieldwork, site assessments, and remediation.

+ Working knowledge and experience with State and Federal protection regulations, guidelines, and consulting processes pertaining to the specific environmental science position.

+ Experience working with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection Petroleum Restoration Program and the Hazardous Waste Program.

+ Familiarity with local, state, and federal permitting agencies.
