At that time, the lands in this area were annexed to Newberry Township where they remained until February, 1803, when the York County Court approved petitions of area citizens to create the Township of Fairview.
In 1807, a 120-lot village was laid out, and lots were sold by lottery drawing held at the local tavern.
The township was purchased in 1807 for $26.87.
The owner of the New Market Forge, Jacob Haldeman, Sr., who also had a working forge in Lisburn (thus, Forge Road), was responsible for laying out the town of New Cumberland in 1814, and selling the lots with the same lottery method used for New Market.
1817 Monroe County is formed
1832 A 100 acre farm is purchased from Jesse Murrell for a "poor farm"
1855 County Farm has grown to 350 acres including the burial hill or "potters field" in front of the community college
Impressed with the possibilities of the area while gathering wild hay there in early 1859, Warren P. Brady and Jehu Cox wrote to Brigham Young asking for permission to create a settlement.
In 1869 a Zion's Cooperative Mercantile Institution was started in Fairview.
Food crops, hay, and grains were planted and, in 1870, the town's first flour mill was constructed south of town.
In 1874 they enthusiastically followed church counsel and established a united order.
1879 Building finished, farm included prize beef, dairy, swine and crops, Michigan Agricultural College provides breeding stock.
1880 Present Courthouse built
In the course of the ensuing decade, Fairview's population burgeoned to more than 1,000, making it the fourth largest in Sanpete by 1880.
The historic Heslin family house was built in circa 1890.
Fairview was settled following the Cherokee Outlet land opening on September 16, 1893.
Bower and his sons constructed a frame building in which a post office was established on April 18, 1894.
Fairview's fortunes rose and fell with the cycle of the regional economy after the railroad-enhanced boom and its population high-water mark in 1900, however.
On August 20, 1903, residents celebrated the arrival of the first train.
In 1903 the Kansas City, Mexico and Orient Railway (KC, M&O, later the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway) built a line from the Kansas-Oklahoma border to Fairview.
Before 1907 statehood and the establishment of Major County, the town was situated in Woods County.
Fairview merchants initiated their first trade day in April 1908.
In May 1908 Fairview had the only high school in Major County.
The City of Fairview was incorporated in 1908, and has historically been a farming and residential community.
County commissioners rented office space until a two-story, brick courthouse was constructed in 1908–09.
On September 7, 1909, Fairview became a first class city by a vote of 179 for and 42 against.
On April 6, 1910, Goldwood Township was established.
On August 7, 1913, the Fairview Village Council authorized the purchase of a Town Hall site for the sum of $700.
One of the more interesting historical landmarks is Fairview's original two-cell jail built in 1915, located in Nachakokee Park (the Nachakokee Indian tribe was located in the Fairview area). A former Indian village on the west end of Blue Lake Park has become an archaeological study area.
In 1924, the Village purchased its first fire engine.
In 1948, Fairview Village residents were urged by Mayor Bohlken to write the federal government for a post office.
The first post office opened in November, 1949.
The Charter of the City of Fairview Park was adopted effective January 1, 1959.
Beginning in the 1972–73 school year, the Fairview campus of the Northwest Technology Center offered classes.

Chinook Landing Boat Launch on the Columbia River was opened in 1991, and has become part of the Metro park system.
