Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Research, Scholarship, and Library, the Archival Fellow will arrange, describe, and digitize the Dr. Francis V. O'Connor Research Collection. Gifted to Crystal Bridges by O'Connor, the collection comprises approximately 40 linear feet of artist files, manuscripts, correspondence, project files, and printed material that pertain to O'Connor's research and publications on Jackson Pollock and the Federal Arts Project of the Works Progress Administration. An additional 15 linear feet of O'Connor's personal papers complete the collection.
This position is a full-time, fully on-site, one-year terminal position open to recent MLIS graduates and early career archival professionals.
Principal Responsibilities:
Research, assess, and arrange the Dr. Francis V. O'Connor Research Collection
Physically stabilize and perform basic preservation of materials through rehousing, re-foldering, and encapsulation
Digitize records and curate digital records in SharePoint
Create and edit finding aids and digital exhibits/directories in ArchivEra
Supervise archival interns and volunteers
Assist staff, researchers, and museum guests with reference and use requests
Participate on department, division, and museum-wide working groups and committees
Perform related duties as assigned by the Director of Library and Archives
Qualifications and Skills:
MLIS degree from an accredited program or commensurate education, training, and experience
One year of experience arranging, describing, and preserving archival collections
Familiarity with DACS and such item-level metadata standards as CCO and Dublin Core
Knowledge of preservation and conservation issues for a variety of materials, including paper, photographs, and textiles
Basic understanding of the digitization of analog formats and digital preservation standards

The Resilience Fellow will work alongside partners to:
Understand current disaster risks in North Mississippi
Understand current local and state mitigation and resilience priorities
Identify underserved communities and recovery partners in need of additional support
Coordinate, develop, and pursue funds to support recovery, resilience, and mitigation projects
The perfect candidate will have experience with disaster recovery programs, having worked with a variety of stakeholders to include local governments and/or nonprofits and long-term recovery groups. This candidate should have a general understanding of Federal and State/Local recovery funding, and possess the knowledge to help secure additional funding and streamline opportunities for resilience and mitigation efforts in North Mississippi.
This is a 2-year position as part of the SBP Resilience and Recovery Fellowship Program.

Achieve all goals and objectives set by SBP for the Recovery and Resilience Fellows Program, to include the following:
Serve as a recovery and resilience champion to communities in North MS, working with state and local stakeholders to access and/or influence funding for preparedness, recovery, resilience, mitigation, and climate adaptation projects to mitigate against future losses in a disaster.
Successful implementation of recovery projects will require a dynamic combination of human capacity, actionable projects, and streamlined access.
• Fellows will accelerate investment through available funding sources, including local, state, federal, private, philanthropic, and public opportunities.
• In order to be successful, the Fellow must understand regional and local priorities, identify public and private stakeholders, review current applicable plans in place, and assess and document gaps.
• Fellows must also be skilled translators and conveners of stakeholders and opportunities, capable of building trust and generating options for action as local communities characterize their vulnerabilities.

Responsibilities
Undergraduate Research Program Leadership

* Collaborate with faculty to develop, implement, and assess Course-based Undergraduate Research Experiences (CUREs).
* Coordinate first-year career development courses introducing students to STEM careers, research opportunities, and professional development pathways.
* Organize programmatic activities such as lab open houses, student workshops, research symposiums, and mentorship events to enhance student engagement and visibility of undergraduate research.
* Support faculty in preparing proposals for undergraduate research funding (e.g., NSF REUs, NIH T34 supplements).
* Partner with administrative units, including the Center for Engaged Learning and Teaching (CELT), the Innovative Learning Center, Career Services, the Undergraduate Research and Fellowship Office, and the Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (OGPS), to provide workshops, mentor training, and professional development.
Teaching and Mentoring
* Teach one undergraduate course per semester (1-1 load), including a career development course for first-year STEM students.
* Develop resources to assist with mentoring undergraduate students on topics such as securing research positions, presenting scientific posters, preparing for and presenting at conferences, and navigating professional pathways in STEM.
