Summary
As a Diesel Mechanic at Voigt's, you will be instrumental in maintaining our fleet of equipment, primarily motorcoaches. Youll ensure the safest equipment is placed in service and they are free of mechanical defects with all installed equipment in working order.
Essential Functions
Handles drivers vehicle write-up requests daily. (DVIRs)
Maintains and monitors preventative maintenance schedules.
Records all time and parts on work orders correctly, proficiently to ensure correct costs and explanations of repairs are being applied to vehicles and company assets/property.
Performs routine maintenance such as oil changes, mounts, dismounts and balances tires, tests batteries, and lubricates equipment and machinery.
Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel end components to ensure they are in proper operating condition.
Test drives vehicles to verify driver complaints, assist in diagnosing malfunctions, and to ensure that all systems are working properly through correct repair procedures.
Troubleshoots/diagnoses equipment problems over the phone with drivers and other personnel.
Inspects, tests, and listens to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as gauges, digital voltmeters, laptops, manuals, manufacturer support systems, training exercises, other forms of diagnosis to include- manufacturer support call centers, representatives, online training as well as manuals.
Specialize in repairing and maintaining parts of the engine, Wheel Chair Lifts, HVAC systems, engine cooling, suspension, electrical, and all other components.
Ensures compliance with DOT, EPA and OSHA rules and regulations.
Complies with company scheduled hours.
Works in excess of normal working hours as varying workloads are encountered.
Washes, cleans outside, cleans inside, and dumps lavatory when needed.
Handles road calls, repairs vehicles on route at times, changes tires as needed on equipment while in route of service.
Calls for towing and tire repair companies or outside repair shops as needed.
Comply with safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
