Position Overview:
The Material Handler position exists to support production by receiving and/or transporting raw materials and packaging materials to specified areas. The individual will perform general material handling functions using forklift equipment. The environment includes indoor work, with exposure to forklift fumes and spice orders. In addition, individuals must work well with others in a supportive team environment in order to meet material handling quality and quality standards.
Responsibilities:
• Transport raw materials or packaging materials to specified areas for use and return them to their proper locations.
• Receives delivery of raw materials and performs required inventory control transactions.
• Complete and process required inventory control transactions according to company/department standards including scanning and printing tickets with barcode equipment.
• Process return, if excess material, according to department standards. Includes use of inventory management system (SAP) to adjust quantity in system to update inventory.
• Maintain materials in a manner that facilitates FIFO product rotation.
• Transport/store materials to maintain warehouse and/or production areas in a neat and orderly manner.
• Performs daily housekeeping duties in the production and/or warehouse areas including sweeping, collecting trash and collecting damaged product.
• Work with co-workers to insure effective production and/or warehouse operations to meet all material handling performance standards.
• Operate equipment in a safe manner and insure the equipment is in good working order by checking and reporting equipment problems.
• Follow all safety and Good Manufacturing guidelines.
Other Responsibilities:
• Work in other jobs positions under Materials Management as needed.
• Accurately enters information into the time clock to record cost center changes, time in and time out.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred

Follow quality service standards and compliance with OSHA, USDA, FDA and SQF procedures, rules and regulations
Ability to maintain an appropriate and consistent flow of trucks to the dock, by coordinating with truck drivers, and warehouse receivers ensuring completion of unloading process,
Ability to cross reference data between different programs and forms to ensure accuracy of documentation received, and report any discrepancies to warehouse and leadership personnel
Ability to maintain frequent communication with Warehouse Manager and Cashier regarding the status of payments/fees in order to assist in the return of all paperwork to the driver in a timely manner
Ability to handle difficult situations with finesse and tact, conferring with Management as needed
Ability to maintain a positive and helpful manner when checking in carriers and interacting with other warehouse personnel
Maintain a working knowledge of: Vendor accounts, carrier accounts, warehouse requirements, rate schedules, dock schedules, and door specifications
Comfortable working in a refrigerated and frozen warehouse environment requiring standing, bending, kneeling and lifting for long periods of time
Communication and cooperation with supervisors and co-workers.
Keep a clean, safe working environment and adherence to COVID guidelines.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years of age
MHE experience: Electric Pallet Jacks, Reach trucks and forklifts
Proven working experience as a warehouse worker or Lumper is required
Proficiency in inventory software, databases and systems
Familiarity with modern warehousing practices and methods
Good organizational and time management skills
Must be good with basic math, problem solving skills
Strives to maintain maximum customer service levels, even during stressful situations
Ability to work autonomously and in a cohesive team environment as needed
Strong and effective communicator, with basic reading and analytical situational skills
Must maintain a positive attitude, remain flexible, and adaptable at all times
Capable of lifting 75-100lbs in extreme varying conditions and temperatures
Able to keep up in an extremely fast pace and demanding work environment
Understands the most effective ways of stacking/palletizing freight by Ti/Hi
Other Duties
Punctuality and willingness to work other shifts based on business needs
Schedule: Sunday through Thursday 8:00am - 5:00 pm
Assumes other related duties as assigned
