Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Task and project management, including planning and implementing investigation and remediation projects, budgeting and budget management, adherence to schedule, quality, client satisfaction, and profitability;
Data analysis, including preparing maps and figures using GIS/Environmental Visualization Software (EVS) applications, and database management
Preparing technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, and proposals.
Management and mentoring of junior staff and managing subcontractors;
Manage work to meet contract schedules, appropriate codes and regulations, regulatory compliance and/or enforcement and industry standard-of-care criteria;
Prepare for and participate in meetings with clients, regulatory personnel, and other parties;
Conduct fieldwork including multi-media environmental sampling, sediment sampling and characterization, drilling oversight, contractor oversight, and remediation system operations, maintenance, and construction; and
Consistent with our sell-manage-do business model, play a role supporting lead generation, business development, staff development, and mentoring.
Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.
Education and Licensure
Bachelor's degree in geology, hydrogeology, or environmental science (required)
Advanced degree in geology or hydrogeology. (preferred)
Professional registration in California or ability to receive within one year. (i.e., P.G. ) (preferred)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
At least 5 years (7+ years preferred) of direct environmental consulting experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
Knowledge of California regulatory requirements related to environmental remediation and vapor intrusion. (required)
Experience with multi-disciplinary project teams. (required)
Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
Knowledge of California's geology. (preferred)
Regular field work and overnight travel. (required)
Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. (preferred)

This opportunity will be posted for at least five days. Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location(s) below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec's total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

The
Engineering Geology
group of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, motivated, talented Staff Geologist for immediate employment in the
Oakland, California
office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of geologic processes and will learn how geologic conditions can impact design and construction of large projects.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Will conduct geologic and geomorphic mapping.
Log exploratory borings during drilling and collect soil and rock samples.
Install monitoring wells, inclinometers and other instrumentation.
Provide fieldwork oversight of subcontractors.
Evaluate exploratory test pits and trenches.
Conduct geophysical surveys and other in situ testing.
Observe and monitor construction activities for large civil projects (e.g., tunnels, dams, pipelines, bridges, levees, highways, and building foundations).
Prepare boring logs, data analysis summary, generation of subsurface cross sections and profiles, and report writing.
Assist with developing and managing tasks from budget and proposal preparation, development of the work plan, overall task coordination, coordinating and overseeing a variety of investigation techniques.
Will work in the field on large construction projects to verify that design requirements, recommendations, and intent are implemented during construction.
Will work on engineering geology and civil engineering projects that require evaluation of geologic site characteristics through various methods of mapping, drilling, trenching, and geophysical surveying.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
BA/BS in Geology or Earth Science, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
