Responsibilities
Maintains knowledge of the menu and any special items being offered.
Provides quick, attentive, friendly and professional service to banquet guests and is able to communicate clearly with all customers.
Ensures that food items are served at proper temperature and immediately upon availability from the kitchen, as ordered by the customer.
Ensures neat presentation of all ordered items, with no spill-over.
Pre-buses tables and full buses tables when necessary during peak periods.
Maintains availability to work during many peak periods.
Stocks beverage station(s) when necessary (ice, juices, glassware, sugar packets, etc).
Maintains high responsiveness to customer desires and requests.
Maintains a professional and clean appearance.
Communicates with wait staff, bus persons, bartenders, supervisors, and kitchen staff in order to improve communication and coordination so that patrons may be impressed by their dining experience.
Builds and maintains knowledge regarding bar offerings so that patron questions may be accurately answered
Prepare, stock, and maintain internal service areas, pantries, and staff dining or hospitality spaces.
Assist with the setup, restocking, and breakdown of food and beverage stations used for internal service.
Ensure all supplies, beverages, and equipment are properly stored, rotated, and inventoried according to company standards.
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all back-of-house service areas, including dish rooms, storage areas, and prep spaces.
Support event service teams by replenishing items and assisting with internal logistics as needed.
Work closely with culinary and front-of-house teams to ensure timely and efficient service delivery.
Handle internal food and beverage requests professionally and efficiently while maintaining service standards.
Adhere to all safety, health, and sanitation regulations.
Perform other related duties as assigned to support smooth food and beverage operations.
Qualifications
Experience working in a fast-paced, high volume environment preferred
Must have a High School Diploma, G.E.D. or related Food Service Job Experience.
Must acquire and maintain a Food Handlers Card, Alcohol Awareness Certification, and other required compliance trainings.
Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment.
Ability to communicate with employees, co-workers, management staff and guest in a clear, business-like and respectful manner which focuses on generating a positive enthusiastic and cooperative work environment.
Previous experience as banquet server or catering server preferred.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Ability to lift and move moderate weights and stand for extended periods.
Knowledge of food handling and sanitation practices preferred.

The selected candidate will hold a full time tenure-track faculty appointment with the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (JHUSOM), rank commensurate with experience (Assistant, Associate or full Professor).
We are interested in candidates whose proposed research has broad relevance to the control of metabolism related to disease states with relevance to children's health. Additionally, preferred research areas include, but are not limited to genomics, epigenomics, nuclear receptor research, lipid signaling, bioinformatics, transcriptional and system level analyses of cells and tissues involved in whole body metabolism and/or disease processes. Candidates whose research offers translational potential in obesity, diabetes, endocrine, inflammatory or degenerative diseases are particularly encouraged to apply.
The Faculty opportunity requires a PhD or MD/PhD in Biological Science or related field with outstanding training and experience in research pertaining to one of the focus areas noted above. Candidates are expected to establish rigorous and competitive basic research programs addressing unmet clinical needs, and to secure support from diverse funding sources. Applicants are also expected to collaborate with existing members of IFBR and other Johns Hopkins faculty located both in Florida and Baltimore. Successful candidates are expected to have an impressive publication record and exceptional research accomplishments consistent with their academic level. Proven ability to secure external funding would be a plus.
The newly hired faculty member will join a cluster of 9 JHUSOM basic science faculty with research space in the Johns Hopkins All Children's Research and Education Building. This state of the art $95M 230,000 square foot building is home to basic science, clinical and translational research as well as educational programs including a Medical Simulation Center. The building includes over 40,000 square feet of wet laboratory space, an accredited centralized pediatric biorepository, a tissue-based research and diagnostics core, BSL3 facilities, an onsite vivarium, as well as extensive areas for collaborative discussion. Additional onsite support for our investigators includes access to state-of-the-art Shared Resources and Equipment for cutting edge biomedical research. IFBR faculty also have full access to the research service centers and cores on the JHU SOM Baltimore campus as well.
