Who you are:
As a Loan Research Specialist I with Frost,
you
are our quality control. In this role, you will be responsible for reconciling, monitoring, researching, and clearing items from various general ledger and clearing accounts. You will use your investigate skills and observant mindset to process payments and advances, make corrections, and update information to the appropriate loan system. You enjoy interacting with customers and will play a key role in addressing issues and questions involving loan systems both internally and externally. What you'll do:
Prepare a recalculation spreadsheet to correct loans on the Commercial and Installment Loan Systems
Review transactions for accuracy and notify appropriate personnel of any errors found
Retrieve and review reports daily to compare loan transactions and adjustments to the systems daily activities
Process payments, advances, maintenance, terminations, charge-offs and non-accruals
Provide assistance to internal and external customers with issues and questions involving loan systems, transactions, and other miscellaneous items having to do with loans and leases
Correct discrepancies found
May prepare various monthly reports for upper management
Always take action using Integrity, Caring, and Excellence to achieve all-win outcomes

Position Description
The Monarch Research and Education Internship offers hands-on experience in monarch monitoring, habitat assessments, conservation, and community outreach. Interns conduct field research using standardized protocols and work directly with biologists and Natural Resource Managers on military lands.
This is a field-focused position. Interns typically spend four days each week outdoors and one day completing data entry, writing, and administrative tasks. Fieldwork involves documenting milkweed presence, identifying blooming plants, and recording monarch eggs, larvae, and adults. Interns also support outreach activities designed to inspire interest in monarchs, pollinators, and migration among military families and school-aged children. All interns write biweekly blogs and attend virtual team meetings and webinars.
Interns who continue into the fall season assist with capturing, tagging, and measuring monarchs during migration.
Key Responsibilities
Field Research
Conduct monarch and habitat surveys during peak breeding periods
Collect data on milkweed, nectar plants, and monarch life stages
Navigate and work safely on military installations
Communication & Team Engagement
Maintain regular communication with Natural Resource Managers and partner organizations
Submit consistent updates to the EFTA Monarch Program Manager
Participate in weekly team meetings, data reviews, and educational webinars
Write biweekly blogs that highlight fieldwork and personal experiences
Education & Community Engagement
Develop and lead educational programs for military communities, such as school visits, scout activities, citizen science events, and nature walks

Establish a sterile field and assists with minor surgical procedures including PRK and LASIK and other refractive surgical procedures.

Use and maintain an autorefractor, phoropter, auto and manual keratometer, tonopen, Humphrey and Goldman visual field machines, corneal topographer, A-scan machine, pachymeter, specular microscope, ophthalmic photography equipment, slit lamp, potential acuity meter, brightness acuity test, color vision plates, stereo vision test, and personal computers.
Assist, educate, and train PRK staff, Ophthalmology Clinic residents, and other technicians in day-to-day clinic activities including organizing and maintaining exam room stocks.
Assist with clinical training activities to include laser certification wet labs, optometrist co-manager certification courses, and resident educational activities.
Perform Excimer laser responsibilities to include equipment and instrument inventory and upkeep.

Summary:The Research Scientist III provides advanced scientific expertise and leadership in support of the U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research (USAISR) Research Directorate. Research & Laboratory Support
Design, conduct, and oversee complex preclinical and translational research studies in trauma, shock, organ failure, wound progression, and pain/sensory injury.
Develop and validate in vivo and in vitro model systems; oversee animal preparation, surgical procedures (survival and non-survival), post-operative care, and sample collection in accordance with IACUC, AALAS, and GLP (21 CFR 58) standards.
Perform and/or supervise advanced laboratory techniques including:
Molecular assays: PCR, western/northern/southern blots, ELISA, multiplex bead arrays.
Cell biology: aseptic cell culture, cytotoxicity and effectivity assays, microscopy (bright-field, confocal, electron).
Analytical chemistry: HPLC, LC-MS/MS, coagulation assays (TEG/Rotem), biochemical analyses.
Imaging technologies: radiography, luminescence, laser speckle, spatial frequency domain imaging.
Flow cytometry (high-definition spectral): operation, analysis, and troubleshooting.
Leadership & Supervision
Provide scientific and technical guidance to junior contract scientists and research associates in the preparation of research protocols, SOPs, reports, and manuscripts.
Supervise contract personnel engaged in laboratory operations, experimental procedures, data analysis, and scientific writing.
Ensure laboratory operations, inventories, chemical management, and equipment calibration/maintenance comply with OSHA, DoD, FDA, EPA, and Army regulations.
Scientific Writing & Communication
Author and review protocols, SOPs, research proposals, grant applications (extramural/intramural), manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and final technical reports.
Develop CRADA work statements and ensure compliance with collaborative research agreements.
Present findings at local, national, and international scientific conferences and represent USAISR research in technical forums.
Regulatory & Quality Compliance
Maintain Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards, accurate research documentation, and auditable laboratory notebooks.
Support regulatory submissions and interface with oversight bodies including IACUC, Institutional Review Board (IRB), FDA, and Army Human Research Protection Office.
Uphold Quality Assurance Surveillance Plan (QASP) standards and contribute to CPARS excellence ratings.
Mission-Essential Duties
Serve as a Mission-Essential Scientist during USAISR emergencies, closures, or elevated FPCON conditions.
Support extended hours, weekends, holidays, and on-call rotations as needed for live protocols, animal studies, or urgent mission requirements.
Provide technical expertise in blood donor operations, including donor screening, sample processing, transfusion product handling, and compliance with clinical laboratory standards.

Qualifications:
Education:
PhD or other doctorate in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Microbiology, Immunology, Physiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biomedical Engineering).
Licensure & Certifications (Current & Unrestricted):
Current certification in one of the following:
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Course
American Red Cross CPR (or equivalent)
Experience:
Minimum of seven (7) years' relevant research experience in trauma, critical care, or related biomedical sciences.
Documented experience in supervising scientific teams, preparing animal/human use protocols, and managing complex research projects.
Security & Background Check:
U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain a CAC.
Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
Additional Requirements:
Willingness to comply with the government vaccination requirements.
Preferred Qualification(s):
Demonstrated experience with DoD/Army medical research programs and knowledge of military operational environments.
Strong record of peer-reviewed publications, grant writing, and conference presentations.
Expertise in genomics, molecular biology, or flow cytometry strongly preferred.
