Responsibilities
Benchmarking & Model Analysis

Identify high-value model application domains through research exploration

Job Description
The Center for Global Security Research (CGSR) was established at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) in 1996 to bring together experts from the science, technology, and policy communities to address pressing national security challenges. For over 20 years, CGSR has engaged diverse perspectives on topics important to national security, deterrence, diplomacy, dual-use technology, arms control, nonproliferation, space, cyber, biosecurity, and energy security.
We have openings in Summer 2026 for graduate level students or students who have received their bachelors, master's, or are working on their PhD to engage in practical research on global security topics. Students will work with CGSR over the duration of three to four months as a research associate (RA). RAs will engage in practical research to further their educational and career goals, while also supporting the development of strategies for national security and LLNL's mission focus areas. Examples of relevant fields of research include nuclear deterrence, arms control, nonproliferation, emerging technologies, cybersecurity, space, biological & chemical security, and energy security.
CGSR's objectives are as follows:

Job Description
The Center for Global Security Research (CGSR) was established at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) in 1996 to bring together experts from the science, technology, and policy communities to address pressing national security challenges. For over 20 years, CGSR has engaged diverse perspectives on topics important to national security, deterrence, diplomacy, dual-use technology, arms control, nonproliferation, space, cyber, biosecurity, and energy security.
We have openings in Summer 2026 for graduate level students or students who have received their bachelors, master's, or are working on their PhD to engage in practical research on global security topics. Students will work with CGSR over the duration of three to four months as a research associate (RA). RAs will engage in practical research to further their educational and career goals, while also supporting the development of strategies for national security and LLNL's mission focus areas. This role is responsible for conducting analytical testing of food materials and products, including proteins, starches, fibers, oils, and micro-analytes, following established standard operating procedures. The position involves performing both routine and advanced physicochemical and functional analyses, accurately interpreting data, and maintaining precise laboratory documentation. The individual will operate, maintain, and troubleshoot analytical instruments, ensure proper calibration, and uphold cleanliness and safety standards across all lab areas. Adherence to company safety protocols is essential.
This position is a safety sensitive position and is subject to random drug testing.
Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions
Understand and execute analytical tests as directed and as laid out in standard operating procedures of proteins, starch, fibers, ash, oils and various micro analytes.
Perform routine and non-routine physicochemical and functional analysis of food materials and products. Analyze analytical data accurately and comprehensively.
Report quality results in a timely manner and organize comprehensive laboratory records and documentation with precision.
Operate, maintain and carry out basic troubleshooting of all analytical instruments and equipment. Perform instrument calibration and routine maintenance tasks as required.
Keep all work areas organized and clean.

The Learning Commons Math Support Pathways program invites students to apply for a GraduationAssistant position to work with and assist the Math Peer Educators as they provide a critical role to provide academic assistance to increase success rates for students in B4 courses. The Math Support Pathways Learning Commons GraduateAssistant will act as a faculty liaison between the Learning Commons and math faculty. The GA will assist with assessment and data collection, tracking and analysis for reports and presentations. They also will assist with recruitment, development, and scheduling of math peer educator staff associated with the Support Pathways.
