This involves operating mechanical or hydraulic presses, monitoring defects, performing quality checks, and ensuring ongoing machine maintenance and safety protocols are followed. Experience with tooling, different press types, and various metal tube cutting processes is essential for these roles.What's a Typical Day Like? Install and align dies and other necessary tooling into the press. Operate various types of stamping presses (e.g., mechanical, hydraulic) to produce components such as those that are trimmed, punched, or drawn. Set up and adjust press settings, including stroke length and feed mechanisms, for proper part formation. Monitor the machine during operation to detect any misalignment or malfunctions and ensure parts meet quality standards. Troubleshoot issues that arise during the production process to maintain efficiency and quality. Perform routine maintenance on the press and associated tooling. Follow all safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. What Are the Requirements of the Job? Familiarity with different types of stamping presses, such as mechanical, hydraulic, progressive, and transfer. Experience with installing, setting up, and maintaining dies and tooling. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work orders to produce accurate parts. A strong understanding of quality control principles. Ability to identify and resolve operational issues.
