Perform DDC control start-up on various types of mechanical systems based on DDC control drawings, project plans, specifications, and other contract documents. Ability to analyze building control and HVAC system performance at an individual building level. Ensure project documentation is accurate and complete. Provide field project-management support as required.
Key Responsibilities:
Control program use, including: Trend Logs, Zones, Alarms, Reports, Job Back-ups, Graphics, minor DDC code modifications;
Checkout of DDC control components;
Startup of Control Systems for projects;
Commissioning of Control and HVAC Systems;
Record and Update drawings;
Execute field changes and as-builds;
Troubleshoot component and equipment problems;
Training (Owner and peer);
Assist Project Manager with field tasks/coordination;
Panel Construction;
Field Documentation (As Build drawings, Check-out sheets);
Manage time to complete assignments on time and within budget;
Work with Service Department on trouble calls; and
Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Experience:
2 years experience with HVAC and mechanical systems and field experience
Tridium N4 Certification plus 2 years field programming experience;

Additional Experience:
Mechanical and electrical system troubleshooting experience
Computer programming experience
2 or 4 year technical or engineering degree a plus, or equivalent experience;

What you'll be doing:


In this position, you will set up the Building Automation Systems on diverse job sites in and around the area. You will commission and start up BAS systems and document point to point verification, sequence of operations validation and job close out requirements.

Coordinates with team leader and customer to precisely understand requirements for all on-site installation and repairs by forecasting issues, gathering materials and synchronizing on-site work. Keeps current on Trane products concerning installation, operation, maintenance, service, and repair of direct digital control systems. Continually enforces safety to the highest standards and maintains security and accountability of company issued and procured assets by recording use, wear and conditions.



What you'll bring to the table:


A High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience 3+ years of experience with commercial controls and BAS systems Previous experience with DDC controls system preferred Previous background in programming, commissioning and startup of Siemens, Johnson Controls, Honeywell, or Tridium/Niagara based controls systems is highly desirable Operating knowledge of Microsoft office and comfortable with hand-held devices (i.e. Smartphone, iPad) A valid driver's license, with no major or frequent traffic violations EPA Certification Preferred Ability to work on-call rotation and/or overtime to support the business, including occasional overnight stays



Base Pay Range is: $21 - 38/ hour

Must be able to safely and legally operate a vehicle using a seat belt Must be able to wear helmets, safety goggles, fall protection harness and safety boots to safely perform job duties Must be able to twist the trunk of your body 90 degrees in each direction Must be able to squat and touch the floor with both hands Must be able to reach your hands over your head Must be able to stand on concrete surfaces for extended periods, routinely up to 4 hours This position is highly physical and requires regular use of hands, fingers, walking, stooping, kneeling and climbing ladders. It requires employees to regularly lift and or move up to 10 lbs., frequently lift and/or move up to 40 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move more than 40 lbs. Must be able to safely use a ladder with a 350 lb. total weight limit, while carrying equipment of 50 lbs. or less Must be able to maneuver confined access areas, as small as 30" vertical x 45" horizontal Must be able to comfortably and routinely access rooftops with extension and/or fixed ladders at heights of 15' to 20', and occasionally, up to 50 feet + This role may be exposed to variable weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, heights, risk of electrical shock, noisy operating equipment and other variable environmental conditions based on location

What you will do

Conducts preventive maintenance, repair, installation, and commissioning and general servicing of HVAC Automation Systems (including detailed troubleshooting of systems). Responsible for high levels of customer satisfaction through direct, on site, customer interface. Mentors mechanical technicians on building automation activities. Properly completes required project and service documentation.

How you will do it

1. Diagnoses and repairs complex electronic control system malfunction's requiring extensive knowledge of a variety of electronic or digital controls systems and ability to test and write modifications in multiple languages of systems software.

2. Provides sketches of field changes and discrepancies for engineering corrections and drawings.

3. Communicates with customer upon arrival and before leaving the work site. Ensures high levels of customer satisfaction. Meets regularly with customer to become familiar with operating problems. Keeps customer informed on the nature of service provided outstanding issues and recommends system enhancements, upgrades, and or repairs. Promotes the sale of add-on work.

4. Manages assigned work to meet professional execution, of time and customer satisfaction. Reports problems or changes to management immediately. Interfaces with branch manager, service manager, service project manager or subcontractors on projects to coordinate activities as required in an ethical and professional manner.

5. Adheres to all Johnson Controls and customer safety standards. Provides safety awareness on work sites.

6. May provide training to customers on electronic control systems operations. Delivers manuals and documentation to the customer for training needs as required.

7. Mentors and trains mechanical workforce on building automation systems. Provides support to the mechanical staff on non-complex, non-critical equipment.

8. Compiles job documentation, such as certificate of completion, customer training forms, training certificates and punch lists.

9. Conducts extensive self-study (reading, research and practice) to improve and maintain technical proficiency in company's product lines. Completes certifications as required by the company.

1. Vocational School four year program or an Associate degree in electronics, mechanical systems, computer technology, air conditioning or similar field plus three years of industry experience or five years of experience in servicing electronic and/ or mechanical systems in the HVAC industry.
