General Role and Responsibilities:
The instructional aide will support students and the classroom teacher in the general education setting. This staff member will report to the building principal and is expected to meet the expectations set by the classroom teacher.
General Skills and Education requirements:
· 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university
· OR successfully pass the Praxis Parapro Assessment
· Must pass a required background check
· Bilingual skills would be considered an asset
Specific Responsibilities in This Position:
· Support the instructional and emotional needs of students (work with small and large groups)
· Establish positive and respectful relationships with students, teachers, and parents
· Support and establish a safe and healthy learning environment for students
· Perform all other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher and building principal
Specific Skills and Knowledge for this position:
· Ability to self-regulate emotions and model respectful behavior and language
· Cooperate and work with other staff members

Work Schedule: 7 hours per day, 10 months (183 days)
Essential Duties:

• Provides one-on-one tutoring and small group instructional assistance under the supervision of the classroom teacher

The Paraprofessional duties are supervising, supporting, and monitoring student behavior during daily activities, especially transitions (meals, playground, hallways and walks, and nap time). The position fluctuates between direct, one-on-one assistance and background support.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in a classroom setting and be open and willing to accommodate unique needs in an inclusive environment.
The work schedule for this position is unique as it aligns with the Preschool Head Start program year; part-time, part-year, working 20 hours a week M-Th 8:30 AM - 1:30 PM for 42 weeks, August-May.
The pay range for this position is $13.55 to $14.92 an hour, dependent on education level. The minimum requirement is a high school diploma or equivalent.
