Integration architect job description

The Opportunity

The position is for an Integration Architect to work on the implementation of FICO software at financial institutions in EMEA. The Integration Architect must be technically proficient in J2EE, Rapid Applications Development RAD, Business Rules Management Systems (BRMS) RDBMS and Cloud technology and will work on site, primarily on UNIX, Linux or Windows platforms. The architect forms part of a team that will manage the entire implementation process from project inception to the point the client goes live. Close interaction and collaboration with our clients are key to ensuring customer satisfaction and success for both our clients and FICO.

What You'll Do
Design of the entire technical solution Technical Lead for the FICO engagement, coordinating all technical effort with more junior and offshore technical team members Assist in Integration of the FICO suite of products with backend client systems Consult on installation and configuration of FICO software Consult on installation and configuration of J2EE Application Servers such as WebSphere, JBoss and WebLogicAdvanced configuration and performance troubleshooting of RDBMS such as Oracle, SQL Server or DB2On and off-site support for FICO products for the duration of the project Delivering consultancy on FICO technology and related platforms Delivering ‘health-checks' on existing installations Advise on configuration of in-house test systems Balancing multiple high-profile projects simultaneously. Easily switch from one agenda to another.Producing effort estimates for existing clients or prospects Producing technical design and specification documents Understanding and communicating both business and technical objectives from multiple perspectives including client view, internal development view, and operational and support view.Seeking out clarification and examples when necessary.Constantly seeking out and improving product and technical knowledge.Constantly seeking out, contributing and implementing ideas for process improvements, more efficient use of resources, product enhancements, improved communications and quicker issue-resolution.Participating in quality assurance test planning, technical publications development, system design sessions, implementation planning, and other phases of software development lifecycle as needed.
Building relationships with a broad spectrum of stakeholders from senior executive to support desk. Leveraging these relationships effectively to validate assumptions, acquire useful information, negotiate among competing objectives, resolve issues, manage change, agree to direction and achieve consensus.Ensuring completion of high-quality deliverables within time-constraints.Facilitating discussions remotely (via teleconference) to obtain approval on the requirements from all stakeholders.

What We're Seeking

Job Description

Events and messaging systems are key to Discover’s business and technical strategies. They provide a means to enable asynchronous communication across business unit and product area boundaries. Because of this, they also play a central role in integration patterns being developed throughout the Enterprise. In this role in the Enterprise Architecture Technology Strategy organization, you will help drive an evolution of our event and messaging strategies and architecture patterns. You will leverage your deep technical mindset when evaluating business requirements and emerging technologies. You will use leadership skill to help shape strategies, reference/solution architectures, and assist in helping refine a governance model.

You will be working in a highly collaborative environment with business partners, senior architects, product owners, and the application engineering community. You will use your knowledge and acumen to gain influence over technical and business teams as a lead architect working with product owners. You are someone with advanced skills around events and messaging with a good understanding of current and emerging technologies. You should also have experience with different runtime models such as Kubernetes and/or public cloud providers.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior architect responsible for integration technology strategy, defining the scope of the Events/Messaging program
• Lead the creation of technical strategy for Events/Messaging program and work with product owners to establish implementation roadmaps
• Lead the creation of reference/solution architectures for development community
• Collaborate with other senior architects across various domains to ensure Event/Messaging solutions align with overall technology strategy
• Lead the creation/refinement of the Events/Messaging governance model, including all aspects of event management

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree
• 4+ years as technical lead or architect composing system designs/architectures
• 6+ years performing engineering work delivering software

• Internal applicants only: technical proficiency rating of expert on the Dreyfus architecture scale

Preferred Qualifications

• Well versed with current Events/Messaging technologies such as Kafka
• Familiar with emerging Events/Messaging concepts such a Flow Architectures
• Familiar with NLP messaging tools
• Kubernetes &/or public cloud such as AWS
• All aspects of security such as authentication, authorization for event or messaging based flows
• Experience working within or delivery of an Event/Messaging governance program
• Understanding of micro-services, pros and cons of various patterns
• Observability tools such as Kiali, Instana/AppDynamics, Kibana
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
