Inventory control supervisor job description

Job Scope: Oversee and Supervise the inventory functions. Manage, perform and monitor all inventory transactions including material transfer, scrap and return to stock. Analyze all inventory discrepancies. Maintain and keep inventory accuracy and manage cycle counting program. Support all warehouse functions, receiving, return merchandise authorizations, kitting, and cycle counting.

Generate cycle count reports on daily basis, investigate and provide complete analysis on discrepancies
Develop and manage proper inventory control procedures to ensure inventory accuracy Perform analysis on all inventory discrepancies thorough research and document inventory discrepancies using all available resources to identify root causes and supply possible solutions. Manage and maintain all non-inventory items including supply items Generate inventory reports weekly for review and monitoring inventory transactions Ensure associates have proper training and access to the necessary tools to perform their assigned Ensure a safe, secure, clean and fair work environment for associates
ADDITIONAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Examine systems and controls and provide recommendations for improvement of inventory efficiency
Minimum Requirements (knowledge, Skills, Abilities)

2 years Inventory Control experience in warehousing and/or distribution environment Experience with Warehouse Management System (WMS) Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite Basic math skills Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs.; weight may be more dependent upon facility Ability to work a flexible work schedule and shift, including weekends if needed Must be comfortable with various noise levels, at times, can be loud
COMMUNICATION SKILLS: This position will require the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. This position will also require the ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: This position will require the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. This position will also require the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.

REASONING ABILITY: This position will require the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. This position will also require the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

About This Position


The Inventory Control Manager will be responsible for the daily operations of the warehouse and inventory management. This person will also supervise all warehouse personnel and keeping warehouses in compliance with OSHA and FDA regulations.



What You'll Need


One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience Understanding of warehouse operations and familiarity with inventory management. Order filling experience preferred Valid Driver’s License Forklift experience REQUIRED Cycle Counting experience REQUIRED Warehouse managerial or supervisory experience REQUIRED Must have managed a team Must have experience in Warehouse Logistics Requires strong supervisory skills: a demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others Excellent oral and written communication skills Ability to lift 50 lbs Ability to define problems and resolve them quickly Excellent organizational skills Familiarity with computers (including Microsoft Office programs, Oracle and Alice system) Ability to use an RF Scan Gun is REQUIRED Strong attention to detail and commitment to resolve problems Strong time management skills and prove of ability to meet deadlines Occasional overtime may be needed Ability to successfully pass pre-employment (post offer) Company or Facility background check, motor vehicle record check and drug screening

Shift: 6am Start Time
The Inventory Control Supervisor is responsible for all Inventory Control activities for assigned distribution center and provides daily direction to the Inventory Control team to ensure consistent processes. This position ensures that the published company Inventory Control policies and procedures are implemented in a standard manner and that all Inventory Control teammates have been trained on the policies and the specific execution of related procedures.RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides oversight, direction and accountability to all Inventory Control processes and ensures team adherence to company policy and procedure.Supervises the distribution center inventory control team to improve individual and overall team performance.Provides performance coaching, feedback, and counseling.Collaborates with Inventory Control Process Leader to develop procedural recommendations intended to improve the overall accuracy, safeguarding, and efficient handling of all managed inventory.Develops programs to maintain tight security specific to managed inventory and works with local distribution center management to ensure that only authorized personnel have access to product and records.Ensures adequate supervision and separation of duties to protect against issues of theft, negligence, or gross mismanagement.Manages overall coordination of scheduled or requested physical inventories for assigned distribution centers.Establishes and maintains a viable bin verification program, consistent with company policy and procedure.Documents any customer specific Standard Operating Procedures, ensures they are consistent with company policies and procedures, and submits them for approval by the Vice President of Inventory Performance.Continuously reviews inventory functions to ensure operational efficiency and accuracy of processes in a dynamic environment Qualifies to execute all essential inventory control job functions at the distribution center.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred Three to five years of applicable experience required.One to three years of inventory control experience required Must be certified on all warehouse machinery Strong PC skills with a good understanding of Excel, Word and Access software
Basic quantitative/financial analysis skills Solid customer service skills Ability to coach and counsel others Ability to communicate and relate to all audiences, internally and externally Ability to facilitate training needs Ability to be a safety advocate Solid knowledge of regulatory controls and compliance requirements
