Substitute Paraeducator

Overview:


The Substitute Paraeducator will provide classroom support to certificated staff in an effort to teach the established curriculum within a structured and nurturing learning environment. This role will involve working with students of varied age groups, assisting with lesson plans, and performing other job-related duties as assigned.
Responsibilities:

* Provide individual and/or small group instruction

* Implement lesson plans for individuals and/or small groups

* Assist students with assignments, reports, and/or homework

* Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

* High School graduate or equivalent

* College or other in-service training preferred

* Current First Aid/CPR card

* Basic concepts of child growth and development and developmental behavior characteristics

* Student behavior management strategies and techniques

* Appropriate English, punctuation, spelling and grammar usage

* Basic arithmetic skills

* Computer knowledge

* Routine record management, storage and retrieval systems and procedures

* Demonstrate an understanding, patient and receptive attitude toward students of varied age groups

* Understand and carry out oral and written directions

* Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with children and adults

* Maintain confidentiality and display ethical behavior
