The Dental Lab Technician will fill prescriptions from dentists to construct appliances for straightening teeth and repairs dentures, bridges, crowns, and other artificial tooth-replacement devices.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Reads prescriptions or specifications and examines models and impressions to determine the design of dental products to be constructed. Fabricates, alters, and repairs dental devices such as dentures, crowns, bridges, inlays, and appliances for straightening teeth.
Tests appliances for conformance to specifications and accuracy of occlusion using articulators and micrometers.
Places tooth models on apparatus that mimic bite and movement of patients' jaw to evaluate functionality of model. Melts metals or mixes plaster, porcelain, or acrylic pastes, and pours materials into molds or over frameworks to form dental prostheses or apparatus.
Prepares metal surfaces for bonding with porcelain to create artificial teeth using small hand tools. Removes excess metal or porcelain, and polishes surfaces of prostheses or frameworks using polishing machines.
Creates a model of patients' mouth by pouring plaster into a dental impression and allowing plaster to set. Loads newly constructed teeth into porcelain furnaces to bake the porcelain onto the metal framework.
Builds and shapes wax teeth using small hand instruments and with information from observations or dentists' specifications.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Ability to work with plaster, wax, porcelain, plastic, gold, and other metals.
Experience using hand tools for carving and shaping and electric drills, presses, lathes, and high-heat furnaces for completing dental pieces.

Position Overview
Provide inspection, testing services, and documentation for ready mix plant facilities. Develop and maintain relationships with key customers, facility managers, DOT personnel, State, Parish, and Municipal personnel. Develop and maintain relationships with material suppliers. The Quality Control Technician will assist the company in elevating the customers' perception and general quality of our mix designs, achieving the elimination of lost loads, the generation of backup data necessary for mix optimization and overseeing the inspection process of DOT jobs.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
* Create an attitude of Safety, contribute to the safe operation of the department; maintain a safe, clean work area.
* Use accepted methods to inspect, sample, and test materials for the purpose of quality control.
* Sample and test mixtures to stay in compliance with contract specifications and quality control tolerance.
* Follow quality control plans and guidelines as assigned.
* Responsible for ensuring the proper mix design, scale weights and water demand of mix designs at batch plants.
* Performs physical tests on ready mix concrete at plant, such as slump, entrained air, unit weight and yield, time of setting and compressive strength.
* At point of delivery, spot checks sample physical properties as above and discusses necessary adjustments in batch weights with Manager, plus observes workability, finish ability, and contractor's use or misuse of product.
* Performs on-site surveys of fleets and facilities producing products so as to be able to identify delivery problems and recommend solutions.
* Performs physical tests on ready mix concrete aggregates, such as gradations, decants, sand equivalency, specific gravity and density, absorption.
* Monitor and test process functions and materials daily to ensure our products meet or exceed requirements of the appropriate agency or customer.
* Prepare and record accurate information; maintain test results database./ Keeps a written daily log of activities and observations.
* Obtain required certifications in a timely manner.
* Maintain all laboratory equipment, keeping track of all certification paperwork on lab scales and other equipment that requires annual re-certification.
* Follow directions of manager as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific duty.
* Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.

Job Duties
Properly orients tissue in paraffin embedding medium ensuring all surfaces such as epidermis, dermis, mucosal, lumen and inked margins, are embedded and sectioned on the same plane.
Prepares tissue or slides for Special Procedures such as send outs, EM, IF, Cell Flow, Cytogenetic, including packaging arranging transportation, documentation and billing.
Assists in managing workload and productivity by adjusting schedule when necessary.
Maintains an adequate cut supply of Positive (+) control slides and documents on Control Tissue QC log, the case number and QC date for special stains.
Completes Pathologist's, Supervisor's and management team's requests within 24 hours, notifying them of any delay.
Cleans and maintains reagents tissue processors, embedding center, microtomy equipment, H&E stainer in excellent condition, keeping all work areas clean and documenting QC as required.
Accommodates special needs of the section organization by volunteering to do any work/task when needed technical or nontechnical areas due to inclement weather, electrical power outages, computer downtime or other critical times.
Follows safety guidelines as outlined for Department/Institution and documents instances appropriately.
