The Lead Wind Turbine Controls Engineer is part of the Turbine Functionality team which is part of the Controls & Operability organization which handles the full lifecycle of wind turbine controls development - development of new technologies, design and implementation on the actual product, prototype and field testing, and field issue resolution. Essential responsibilities:
Gather and refine software-level requirements and implement wind turbine control software in collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams.
Perform Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and translate findings into robust, testable requirements for wind turbine software features and components.
Develop, maintain, and execute test cases for new and existing wind turbine control features to ensure performance, reliability, and safety.
Create and maintain clear, comprehensive engineering documentation for control algorithms, system behavior, interfaces, and design decisions.
Partner with internal and external stakeholders to drive corrective and preventive actions, ensuring world-class quality and reliability of core control components and alarm functions.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Controls Engineering or similar discipline

Prepare operating and process specifications, and other documentation for product development trials and product testing required. Maintain various records related to trials and testing.
Publish schedules, project summaries, budgets, test reports, third party testing requirements, and product development reports for product development activities. This requires working knowledge of the requirements for the Product Life Cycle Model utilized by LS cable.
Provide updates to products assigned at weekly meetings and as required by management.
Work with vendors in investigating improved methods and equipment for new products and the improvement of existing products.
Review customer specifications and provide reports to check with plant capability and to recommend possible developments to fulfill customer requirements.
Use initiative, ingenuity and sound engineering techniques and approaches while performing technical investigations, using engineering and technical literature. Seek and accept functional guidance and assistance from others on matters within their areas of competence.
Through the course of all projects evaluate, promote, recommend, and work toward a safe and accident-free environment. Ensure that operating procedures for all new and existing equipment have been documented for use by others.

Roles and Responsibilities
Executes New Technology Introduction Programs related to Advanced Component Design.
Conducts component and product integration. All activities that span multiple components and products and are concerned with how to integrate for maximum performance and operability. Manages product and systems requirements, specifications and flow down. Drives validation and verification activities for the overall product/system, including system level testing. Responsible for defining product requirements for the module / component / subcontractors and partners teams. Manages interface between components and execution organizations.
Responsible for driving CTQ / Risk trades within the teams designing the components. Manages the overall product configuration and configuration control system.
Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development, and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.
Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
8 years' total experience in relevant engineering experience; 4 years in power generation, including experience in designing, manufacturing and validating Gas Power gas turbine products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist with energy product development projects, independently handle less complex portions of projects, or complete tasks as assigned. Perform various duties, including engineering studies and investigations. Work closely with Quality Control, Manufacturing Engineers, Production Supervision, vendors, Maintenance and others in developing trial plans and testing programs for product development.
Continuously seek out areas for cost reduction related to cable design including alternative materials, economies of design, reduction of manufacturing complexity which will decrease scrap, and design to take full advantage of cable specifications.
Perform feasibility studies involving cost analyses and consideration of alternatives to determine economic advantage of proposed product improvements. Work closely with Product Design Engineering in planning production methods for new and revised products. In the course of specific projects, exercise partial supervision over machine operations.
Prepare operating and process specifications, and other documentation for product development trials and product testing required. Maintain various records related to trials and testing.
Publish schedules, project summaries, budgets, test reports, third party testing requirements, and product development reports for product development activities. This requires working knowledge of the requirements for the Product Life Cycle Model utilized by LS cable.
