Lead operator/machine operator job description

Currently seeking a Packaging Machine Lead for 2nd Shift with food manufacturing packaging experience. Hours 1: 00 pm - 9: 00 pm (training will be on 1st shift for 2 months (6: 00 am - 2: 00 pm)
JOB REQUIREMENTS/DUTIES:


Quality inspection including but not limited to: seal integrity, metal detection, box and label print quality Experience as a Production Team Lead Perform necessary pre-operation activities Housekeeping and sanitation Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while adhering to safety and health regulations and following standardized work Ability to read specifications and have great attention to detail. MUST be able to stand on feet for 8 or more hours a day


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
:

6+ years experience of * Setup, operate, monitor, troubleshoot, and * preventative maintenance on packaging machines Training and leading a team of packaging operators Ability to make adjustments and/ or tool changes as needed Inspection of incoming packaging material Food manufacturing experience is a HUGE PLUS perform preventative maintenance such as cleaning, greasing, and replacing pads or tape.


EDUCATION
:

HS Diploma or GED is REQUIRED

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of Machine Operator Lead

* Assist in managing and directing all machining & finishing operations and personnel as needed.
* Assign daily workload to Machining & Finishing Dept. Personnel as needed.
* Able to operate all machines; CNC's, Shot Blaster's, Vibratory, Drill Press, Belt Sander's and Hot Dip Wash Tanks.
* Setup and troubleshoot machines.
* Check parts on CMM.
* Program edits as needed.
* Tools changing such as replacing and presetting tools.
* Able to inspect castings using various hand inspection tools, leak testers, and air gauge equipment. Maintain records of inspections.
* Perform floor rounds and verify production and quality of parts.
* Operate forklift and deliver/remove parts to maintain continuous production.
* Develop and document new procedures/work instructions as needed.
* Train new employees
* Instruct new employees on safe work habits
* Clean and maintain machines
* Maintain a clean and orderly work area
* Must support and follow the QMS requirements
* Carry out duties as the Machining & Finishing Dept. Supervisor specifies
* Observe all Boyd safety and OSHA guidelines and procedures

Lead Router Machine Operator Summary:

Lead Router Operators are responsible for making sure the specifics o a job that needs cutting on a larger router are understood and followed prior to cutting printed work. Functions require fine cuts using large machinery. The finished product can be of varying size and shape. functions require an eye for detail to ensure that finished print jobs are cut specification.

Responsibilities:

• Ensures correct work is flowing through team in an accurate, efficient and timely fashion
• Ensures that production activities s/he is responsible for are consistent with needs of fulfillment as it relates to customer needs (Due dates)
• Understands blade and knife set capabilities vs material being cut
• used to measure process improvement and workflow management against established department metrics (Daily, weekly, monthly and annually)
• Operate Large router to make details custom cuts for various types of printed stock
• Troubleshooting Error
• Utilize fork lift as needed

Basic qualifications:

• Ability to speak, read and write English
• Available for weekend work schedules and overtime
• Required to lift up to a minimum of 50lbs
• Required to follow safety instructions and adhere to safety procedures
