PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provides information assistance to users at service points on a rotating schedule, including evenings, nights, and weekends:
o responds to phone, email, and in-person customer inquiries regarding Technology Design Studio services;
o assists users with scanning/faxing/printing/copying services; schedules appointments for group study, audio-visual editing suites, and presentation-practice rooms;
o assists in providing training to AUC faculty, staff, students, and library staff on PCs, iMacs, and learning new software and technologies;
o assists with classroom technology setups for Main Level classrooms (208, 215, and 202ABC); and
o monitors use of Bloomberg Finance Lab
• Troubleshoots hardware and software problems in the Technology Design Studio area; refers complex problems to the Office of Information Technology.
• Assists in creating and maintaining customer informational materials, unit forms, and/or procedural documents
• Assists in the creation of online tutorials for learning technologies, software, and hardware
• Conducts training on how to use specialized software and hardware available in the Technology Design Studio area

QUALIFICATIONS:

BASIC FUNCTION
To work at the Circulation Desk assisting patrons and working on assigned clerical tasks which support the circulation, interlibrary loan, and reserve systems.
CHARACTERISTIC
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
> Primary
- Work directly with patrons checking the library material in and out, renewing items, placing items on hold, and registering users for the Kolvoord Community Room.
- Prepare items for shelving and keep material in order.
- Register new patrons for library cards and add HomeCard patrons to the patron database.
- Enter patron information into the patron database and review all new adult patron registrations for accuracy.
- Help patrons find materials in the library and answer directional and basic reference questions.
- Train patrons in the use of library technology.
- Assist with acquisitions record keeping.
- Follow procedures for opening and closing the library when working those shifts.
- Assist the Circulation, ILL, and Youth Librarians as needed.
- Serve as a backup/assist with Interlibrary Loans
- Assist with programming as needed
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Direct supervision by a full-time employee at the Circulation Desk or Youth Circulation
Desk.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
May supervise a Library Shelving Assistant under restricted circumstances.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED plus two years of library experience, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
- Ability to deal courteously and efficiently with a variety of individuals.
- Computer literate.
- Ability to stay current in technologies required to perform work duties.
- Reliable
