Reporting to the Operations Manager you will help handle and clean material through the galvanizing process, to help us meet customer commitments. Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for tying or assisting with tying material onto racks with wire or chain for safe movement through the galvanizing process. Use wire to tie material to bow racks, universal racks, or other tooling to prepare for the pickling tanks using specific training methods for the galvanizing process. Use rope to lift and prepare material for the pickling tanks using specific training methods for galvanizing process. Operates and visually inspects all equipment (i.e. forklifts, cranes, tooling, etc.) prior to usage to ensure no maintenance is needed. Learns to rack a variety of materials by assisting others. Racks, unracks or cleans material in order as directed. May learn to use a torch to dry materials before hot dipping. May clean material using a grinder, file, or brush as specified by the customer. Inspects material for sags, runs, drips, bare spots and reports it to management. Uses bolt cutters to remove wire from product and tooling and disposes of it per established procedures. Essential Qualifications, Duties, and Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned) Works with craft personnel and assist in removing scale, sand, paint, grease, tar, rust and dirt from equipment. Utilize shovels and other hand equipment to move products from one place to another as directed. Utilize mops and brooms to clean areas of work free of clutter and environmentally friendly. Inspect tools for safe usage prior to delivering and/or removing tools from work locations. Ensures that a proper inventory of equipment is readily available in trucks, trailers or other tool storage areas. Control movement of heavy equipment through narrow openings or confined spaces, by the use of tag lines. Signal or verbally direct workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads in order to ensure safety of workers, equipment and materials. Assist in the loading, unloading and securing of loads for transportation. Dismantle and store rigging equipment out of environmental elements after each use. Must have prior experience working in the pipeline industry. Physical Demands: The employee must regularly lift up to 50 pounds and carry up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
