About The Role - Material Handler (Upton, WY)
We are excited to announce an opportunity at Orica for a Material Handler within our Orica USA Logistics and Distribution team.
The Material Handler plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and accurate handling of materials at Orica's transload facility in Upton, WY, which operates 7 days a week. This facility includes four silos and supports the daily transfer of ammonium nitrate from railcars to trucks. The role involves operating material handling equipment, performing physical labor-including sledgehammer work in hot conditions-and working at elevated heights to maintain paddle chain conveyors. Maintaining accurate inventory records and adhering to strict safety protocols are essential responsibilities of this position.
Work schedule
Work shift rotation: 4 days on (8-hour shifts), 2 days off
Must be open to working on-site in Upton, WY for all scheduled shifts.
The work schedule includes Sunday through Saturday, with weekend and holiday work required.
Overtime may be available but is not guaranteed or consistent.

Inspections & Compliance: Performing monthly inspections and inventory checks on ammonium nitrate. Also, ensuring all tasks are completed in compliance with safety standards and operational procedures.

Receive, inspect for damage or defective goods, reject or notate condition, and sort and scan incoming freight.

Sort materials for overnight/ground receipt and department deliveries; use computer accounting system such as PISTOL for inquiries regarding department deliveries.
Scan each material into computerized bar-coding system, and enter department and shipment from information.

Safely use transporting equipment such as van, truck, dolly, pallet jack, forklift, and the like.
Ascertain shipping papers are correct according to hazmat regulations; make certain for hazmat materials that the proper emergency response information accompanies the shipment.
Prepare domestic and/or international shipping and freight bills; determine most efficient means of shipment with attention to detailed requirements from different shippers.
Provide customer service in the office and in the field by answering questions on shipping requirements, packaging and researching lost shipments, processing paperwork for damaged shipments, and answering the telephone or greeting customers in the office.

Unload lumber from sawmill.
Stage lumber in yard in order of size and species.
Load kilns as directed, checking that loads are centered and straight.
Unload kilns as directed and stage in yard.
Feed planer with dry lumber or reman products.
Keep yard areas clean and organized.
Empty trash bins as needed.
Be able to enter and exit the machine consistently to remove or add bunks every other unit.
Ability to lift 50#'s occasionally and 20 #'s consistently.
Be available to work overtime as lumber flow changes.
Prompt and dependable attendance
Be able to work in varying weather as temperature and inclement weather are part of working in an outdoor environment depending on the season.
Be able to check fluids and perform pretrip and post trip inspections.
Applicants should have 3-5 years of verifiable production experience on a large forklift, and must be able to demonstrate the ability to safely and proficiently operate a forklift. The right candidate with equipment experience will be considered for training.
40+ hours per week. Wage DOE

Specific duties may include:
Loading and unloading delivery vehicles
Assisting with loading products onto rooftops
Assisting in maneuvering delivery vehicles
Delivering product in non-CDL required vehicles
Providing superior customer service
Double checking all loads for accuracy and ensuring that they are thoroughly secured for delivery
Providing warehouse support as needed
Responsibilities may include assisting with delivery of materials to customers or jobsites and delivery functions including unloading and staging of product at jobsites as assigned
Performing all duties safely
Specific qualifications include:
Ability to lift 75-100 lbs consistently
Ability to stand, bend, twist, and climb ladders throughout complete shift
Forklift experience preferred
Ability and willingness to work on rooftops
Positive attitude and team player
Adhering to all safety policies, including wearing safety harness and other required equipment
