Diesel Mechanic Position Summary:
This position is required to safely and accurately perform general property and vehicle maintenance & repair duties in and around the shop operations in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge and understanding basic preventative maintenance and repair techniques of Class 5 through Class 8 commercial vehicles to include tank trailer inspection and maintenance related to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations is required.
Diesel Mechanic Essential Functions:
All fleet mechanic positions will be required to perform vehicle maintenance & repair duties safely and accurately in and around the shop operations in a fast-paced environment.
Fleet Mechanic Apprentices will receive hands on training and instruction on preventive maintenance/inspections/repairs of Class 5 through Class 8 Commercial Vehicles and maintenance/inspection of tank trailers.
Fleet Mechanic Levels I & II will learn and become proficient utilizing the company's maintenance software program to create and complete work orders and maintain work order/vehicle maintenance records. They will also train/assist other technicians in performing preventive/repair of facilities and equipment to include trucks, tractors, and trailers.
Fleet Mechanic Level III will build on the duties from Diesel Mechanic I/II and become qualified as necessary with appropriate certifications to perform new technology evaluations, diagnosis, and repairs.
HM183 will build on the duties of a Level III Diesel Mechanic, Certified as a (DOT) commercial motor vehicle inspector in compliance with FMCSR's

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is labor intensive. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs on a daily basis. Must be able to lift up to 100lbs on a rare basis. This position requires 90% of frequent climbing, balancing, stooping/crouching, overhead reaching, bending, squatting and prolonged standing and sitting. It requires occasional pushing, pulling, kneeling, and crawling. The position also involves great hand and eye coordination. Heights exceeding over 50 feet from time to time are normal to incur on a daily basis to maintain a crane. Employee will be required to travel from time to time (20 50%) and must be willing to work various shifts to accommodate needs of HCSG branches and customers. This includes on-call and overtime. Travel out of town may be required at the discretion of the company.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is normally performed inside or outside (pending customer requirements) with varying degrees of extreme hot and cold temperatures depending on the weather. During summer months, temperatures can exceed 120 degrees. This position will be frequently exposed to noise, heights, fumes, dust, and odors.

Essential Functions
The following duties are normal for this classification. Installs, maintains, and/or repairs mobile communications and electronic equipment, specifically: cellular telephones, vehicle mounted radios, public address systems, mobile data units, Cradlepoint mobile routers or like devices, in-car video systems, and other electronic systems.
Installs, repairs, and/or maintains an assortment of lighting and warning devices/systems including alarms, sirens,
emergency lighting and controls, K-9 overheating alarms/cooling devices and other related equipment.
Programs vehicle mounted public safety radio equipment, light controllers, in-car videos systems, K-9 overheating/cooling systems.
Checks functioning of newly installed equipment to evaluate system performance under actual operating conditions.
Converses with equipment end-user to ascertain problems with equipment before and after malfunction to determine if malfunction is due to human error or mechanical problems.
Troubleshoots equipment failures; reads work orders, test manuals, performance specifications, wiring diagrams, and schematics to determine testing procedure and equipment to be used.
Connects unit to be tested to test equipment; analyzes and interprets test data/results on defective units to determine
cause of failure; compares results with specifications and records test data.
Confers with manufacturers' engineers/technicians regarding testing procedures, results, and problem resolution.
Makes repairs by replacing defective components and wiring and adjusting mechanical parts; records defects and sends unit to manufacturer for repair.
Using the available ticket system, maintains records of equipment in need of repair, installations, removals, maintenance, and repairs.
Repairs tools and test equipment; aligns, adjusts, and calibrates test instruments and equipment according to specifications.
Fabricates brackets, plates, and other parts required to install equipment; designs and builds special equipment for training personnel.
Maintains inventory of most frequently used parts to repair equipment; prepares and places orders for parts, supplies, and equipment; prepares parcels for shipment and receives deliveries; issues equipment to authorized personnel.
Maintains current technical library of manuals, schematics, blueprints, and technical updates, policies and procedures, and employee handbooks for reference and/or review.
Evaluates current technology; researches equipment and procedures to meet particular needs.

The Technician is a heavy equipment mechanic that specializes in maintaining and repairing cranes. This position may perform routine maintenance, like lubricating parts, as well as fixing other problems when the crane malfunction. The Technician position work in a safety-first type of environment. HCSG is a 24/7 service company that requires technicians to be available on-call and provide after hour or even weekend services as required due to customer needs.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Must be able to be on-call and provide after hour services as required.
Troubleshooting, repairing, inspecting, and upgrading industrial hoists and cranes in the field at customer locations.
Perform OSHA required hoist and crane inspections and generating inspection reports and repair orders.
Communicate with the Service Manager and Branch Manager during the day so that work can be scheduled and completed on a daily basis.
Operate tools, equipment, and vehicles in a safe and responsible manner. Notify immediate supervisor of any deficiencies.
Maintain the ability to work with others in team environment.
Attend company provided trainings and seminars as required.
Participate in HCSG 5 Marks program

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is labor intensive. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs on a daily basis. Must be able to lift up to 100lbs on a rare basis. This position requires 90% of frequent climbing, balancing, stooping/crouching, overhead reaching, bending, squatting and prolonged standing and sitting. It requires occasional pushing, pulling, kneeling, and crawling. The position also involves great hand and eye coordination. Heights exceeding over 50 feet from time to time are normal to incur on a daily basis to maintain a crane. Employee will be required to travel from time to time (20 50%) and must be willing to work various shifts to accommodate needs of HCSG branches and customers. This includes on-call and overtime. Travel out of town may be required at the discretion of the company.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is normally performed inside or outside (pending customer requirements) with varying degrees of extreme hot and cold temperatures depending on the weather. During summer months, temperatures can exceed 120 degrees. This position will be frequently exposed to noise, heights, fumes, dust, and odors.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
0 - 2 years of crane experience in an industrial facility
Must have a valid drivers license and acceptable driving record
Must always commit to working and driving safely
Must be willing to work off the ground at various heights
