Description
The successful candidate must be able to multitask in a diversified work environment, should have a minimum of 5 years' experience of ‘hands-on' injection mold maintenance and similar experience dealing in plastic polymers.
Qualifications required:
Must have a minimum of 5 years in a manufacturing environment
Must have the ability to use tool room equipment such as grinders and mills
Must be capable of working on molds and making tight tolerances parts
Must be able to comprehend part and tool prints
Injection molds dis-assemble/assembly and perform general mold maintenance
Self-motivated, good organizational skills, team player
Must be able to follow safety guidelines on the production floor
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair tooling problems on the production floor, identify and implement tooling improvements
5+ years' hands-on work experience in Injection Molding
Die maker or machinist certificate
Continuous Improvement experience within a manufacturing environment, preferably in an ISO 9001:2008 certified company
Essential functions and responsibilities:
Perform problem-solving to develop corrective actions for customer issues or to initiate continuous improvement
Repairs and re-builds injection molds by arranging for welding and rework, machining, polishing and finishing to required surface finish
Fits and assembles parts and tests completed molds for proper operation
Verifies conformance of repaired injection molds or related tooling to specification by checking dimension, clearances and alignments using various test equipment, consistently working to close tolerances
Able to read and understand mold drawings * Recommend mold design changes
Keep inventory of spare parts at an appropriate level and well organized
Operates a variety of machine tools, such as drill press, surface grinder to prescribe dimension and surface finish. May cut, mill, grind or otherwise repair work piece to prescribed dimension and finish
Operates crane to remove and/or relocate molds to specific workstations/areas
Have a valid Forklift license
Provides general maintenance and cleanup of all Tool room equipment
Participates in Continuous Improvement and assists in its implementation on an on-going basis
Proficient in written and verbal communication skills
Coordinate tooling and equipment availability, repair and maintenance
Respond to problems by performing corrective technical or mechanical solutions
Maintain positive employee relations and adhere to Company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices
Coordinate with outside vendors regarding maintenance and repair for tooling and equipment
Implement and manage all maintenance functions, including but not limited to preventive, corrective and emergency maintenance on all injection molding equipment
Maintains product safety, legality, regulatory compliance and quality systems
Report on any potential food safety, legality, quality, or food defense concerns to the plant manager or quality personnel
Follow all documented Good Manufacturing Practices
Must follow all company policies and procedures

The Manual Machinist would join a team of skilled professionals in our Machining/Manufacturing/Assembly facility. You would be working with other members of the manufacturing team regularly (CNC machining, saw cut, assembly/service).
Responsibilities
Setup, operate, and run manual mills/drills/lathes used to process components.
Run manual lathes occasionally using steady rests and 3 or 4 jaw chucks.
Work from process sheets, blueprints or other written/verbal instructions to perform production tasks.
Load machines manually or using a crane when maneuvering large, awkward or heavy parts.
Setup and read micrometers, indicators, and calipers.
Maintain machine and work area in a clean and safe manner.
Check and inspect operation against predetermined tolerances.
Work in other areas or departments as assigned for lathe work.
Excellent communication skills are required to interact directly with Supervisor/ Application Engineering/Programming to collaborate on process improvements
Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and pieces on machines, using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
Stop machines to remove finished pieces or to change tooling, setup, piece placement, according to required machining sequences.
Other duties, as assigned.

Must be physically able to handle heavy items including lifting, pushing, pulling, and positioning components up to 50 lbs.
Must be able to work scheduled hours and comply with the company's timekeeping policy and all other company policies.
Must be able to consistently stand for entire 8 to 10-hour shift.
Ability to work in a team setting.

Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar position.
Knowledge of basic machining practices and materials and general mechanical knowledge is required.
