You will be a Precision Machining Technician at Lockheed Martin's Chelmsford, MA facility, working on the second shift (with the option to move to first or third shift). The Exhibit Fabrication Specialist II is responsible for the fabrication and repair of Orlando Science Center's exhibits, props, and individual exhibit components. This includes the ability to proficiently demonstrate specialized wood working, metal working and plastic working skills and techniques. This position is also responsible for maintaining OSC's fabrication shop, tools and utilizing safe shop keeping practices.
Essential Functions
Provides fabrication, assembles, and finishes carpentry support for exhibits, displays, scenic facades and graphic signs using both common and unusual materials as required to satisfy the demands of the project.
Proficient in the safe operation of standard shop tools, such as: table saw, router, chop saw, sanders, band saw, and various hand power tools required in the fabrication and assembly of exhibits.
Must have advanced experience working with wood, laminates, veneers, solid plastics, adhesives.
CAD and drafting skills with an emphasis on 3D Modeling.
Must be able to read and interpret engineering, production and shop drawings and define parts from those drawings to be able to machine the parts as required.
Ability to operate 3D printers and work with accompanying software.
Installs exhibit structures and devices into final exhibit space.
Work must be of high quality with attention to detail.
Ability to work on several projects simultaneously.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Keeps shop workspaces neat, clean, organized, and well supplied.
Follow all safety procedures.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience & Certifications: Must possess a minimum of 3 years of work experience and training in a cabinet shop or similar fabrication, construction, mechanical or industrial technology position.
