This position is essential in the ability of EJ Reynolds Company to meet scheduled production goals and to produce high-quality projects that meet and exceed customer expectations. The CNC Machinist is responsible for basic programming and operation of computer numerical control (CNC) machines, troubleshooting, reading, and interpreting blueprints, tooling changes, and inspection of machined parts.
Duties:
Machine Operation 85%
Program machinery for operation according to instructions
Monitor equipment during operation to ensure quality production and minimal unplanned stops
Translate engineering drawings and requirements into dimensions for production
Inspect parts to specifications making adjustments, or tool changes as necessary to maintain quality specifications
Inspect 1st article parts by using hand tools
Communicate with team members and support teams to ensure continuous production of the correct product at high quality levels with minimal wasted time and material
Machine Maintenance 15%
Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
Conduct regular machine assessments
Monitor machine oil levels
Clean machinery and maintain cleanliness in work area
Qualifications and Skills Required
3-5 years of operating and/or programming experience on CNC (computer numerical control) machines in a manufacturing facility or similar relevant skills or experience
Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and manuals
Analytical and numerical skills: ability to perform mathematical calculations (add, subtract, multiply, divide) in different units of measurement

Summary:
Sets up manual lathes and/or mills, performing all machining operations. Subject to short lead times and close tolerances on a continuous basis. This Machinist will performs highly routine/repetitive work on standardized parts. Proficient in deburring, tapping, and polishing to all required dimensions and surface finishes.
Temporary assignment to various Atec facilities may be required as needed to support Atec operations.

Ensure activities are conducted in accordance with Atec International Standards Organization
(AS9100/ISO) policies and correct and report any deviations to appropriate area manager/supervisor.

The CNC Machinist is responsible for producing machined parts by setting up and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine and maintaining equipment and supplies. This position maintains quality and safety standards and documentation of machining activities. This position will report to the Shop General Manager and have no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Essential Job Functions
* Maintains a safe, secure and healthy environment by adhering to Company/Customer safety standards and practices and to legal regulations, alerting others regarding potential hazards or concern
* Performs all duties as assigned and adheres to TEAM's Core Values.
* Plans machining activities by studying and interpreting work orders and engineering specifications. Requires interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
* Edits programs at the mills and lathes by entering instructions, setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches;
* Formulates machining requirements using basic math calculations, geometry, and trigonometry.
* Sets-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; tramming heads or any other means of work holding.
* Maintains machining specifications by observing, measuring, detecting malfunctions, and troubleshooting processes.
* Adjusts surface feet per minute (SFM) and feed rates to optimize tool life and produce quality parts in a timely manner, and identifies and replaces worn tools in adherence with quality assurance specifications.

* Associate's Degree or Training in a relevant technical program preferred.

Summary:
The Manual Machinist II will set up and operate manual machines; emphasis on both Mills and Lathes. Machining operations also include the following duties:
Read, process sheets, blueprints, and sketches of part to determine machining to be done, dimensional specifications, set up, and operating requirements.
Interpret work instructions
Identify, select and install proper tooling for operations being performed
Calculate proper feeds and speeds for a variety of steel grades, copper, brass, aluminum and bronze
Intuitively understand capabilities of tooling and machinery
Apply principles of Lean Manufacturing to reduced setup times and improve productivity
Actively participate in daily Continuous Improvement activities
Minimum required qualifications:
Prior experience with precision inspection equipment including, but not limited to, micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges
3+ years of manual machining experience within shop environment
Prior experience with rotational equipment a plus. Ideally, both Lathe and Mills or split parts
Proven ability to hold tight machining tolerances of less than .001”
