In this role, the MILLING MACHINIST will set up and operate a variety of CNC Milling machines to perform a series of machining operations as defined in the job routings.
MILLING MACHINIST DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but not limited to:
Machinists will be asked to run and set up a variety of different machines.
Reads and understands blueprints, job routings, set up sheets, and charts that outline specifications such as dimensions, tolerances, and tooling instructions such as type of holding fixtures, cutting speeds, feed rates, and cutting tools to be used.
Load and set tools while understanding run out, tool length stick outs, and proper holder based on what the tool is doing.
Recognize, understand, and properly adjust or replace dull or chipped tooling.
Able to set and adjust work offsets, tool wear lengths, and cutter comp.
Adjusts work shift offsets of tools at each station.
Must be able to run more than one machine where cycle time permits.
Perform Quality Control Characteristics documentation of tolerance zones specified on blueprints.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Associate Degree in machining.
Minimum 2-5 years of CNC machining experience.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

Knowledge of GD&T principles.
Ability to multi-task, prioritize, adapt to shifting priorities and meet deadlines.

Job Description
2nd Shift: 2:45pm-12:45am (Monday-Thursday/ 4 day/10-hour work week)
The CNC Machinist is responsible for setting up, programming, and operating modern multi-Axis CNC milling and turning equipment. This position is for a hands-on problem solver, who is detail oriented, and able to work with minimal support.
Ensure safe and compliant operations by following all safety procedures, reporting hazards, and adhering to company policies, including HSE, ISO, and quality standards.
Interpret technical documentation such as metric and imperial prints with GD&T to determine optimal work steps, tooling, and fixturing for part production.
Set up, operate, and maintain CNC equipment to complete production orders with high quality and efficiency, while using precision measuring tools to ensure part accuracy.
Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to reduce cost and lead time, and developing innovative solutions for low-volume manufacturing.
Support cross-functional flexibility and collaboration by flexing to different machines as needed, ensuring smooth shift transitions, and maintaining open communication.
Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment by performing basic equipment maintenance and working with the team to uphold workplace standards.
Qualifications
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of 3+ years of experience setting up and operating CNC machines.
Proficient in machine programming (i.e. G-code, M-code, conversational)
Can read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in a low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment
Must possess a two-year technical degree in machining.
Skilled in operating and programming CNC lathes, mills
Proficient with CAD/CAM software and CNC programming tools
Experience with Siemens controls
Strong problem-solving skills, self-motivated, and able to manage time and resources effectively
Able to work independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams, with good communication skills
Proficient in imperial and metric measurements, MS Office, and basic computer applications

The expected compensation range for this position is starting at $36.00/hourly. (plus 2nd shift premium)

Position Summary
The role of a CNC Machinist II is to perform intermediate to complex machining and programming activities in line with company capabilities. This position has attained full proficiency as a CNC Machinist I and can successfully apply CNC principles, procedures, and setups unique to the company to execute machining strategies. Design custom fixtures for work holding as needed.
Calculate cutting speeds and feeds and the depth of cuts based on material and work holding.

Perform dimensional and visual inspection of parts per specifications using basic measuring equipment.
Track individual labor time using ERP system.
Collaborate with team members to clarify project requirements and resolve issues.
Provide advice or solutions in technical areas for less experienced machinists.
Collaborate with Project Managers to calculate time and material costs for quoting purposes.
Identify opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiencies for machining and tooling selection through research and development.
