Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Your Priorities
Downloads requirement data into CAM software, and creates machining program with correct tooling and feed-rates
Works off of sequences to create roughing and finishing machine paths.
Performs his/her own setups.
Works with the designers to verify models and which tools and parts are to be machined.
Inspects workpieces, including mic's, calipers, and height gauges.
Requirements
Your Background
Associates Degree in a technical discipline, plus 6-8 years of experience in CNC programming and operation OR
High School Diploma or GED, plus 8-10 years of experience in CNC programming and operation.
Experience in 2D & 3D programming skills using WorkNC and working knowledge of Makino, DMG-Mori, and Haas CNC equipment is preferred.

As a Machinist for HECO you will identify problems and make necessary adjustments as they relate to industrial AC/DC electric motors and generators.
You will use a variety of manual machine tools and balancing equipment for rotating machinery, while following service center safety procedures.
You will need to have excellent attention to detail and an ability to work from drawings, sketches, and blueprints.
Core duties include:
Operate manual machining tools to include engine lathes, horizontal lathes, milling machines, grinders, drilling machines, and related equipment
Safely use overhead, gantry cranes, and lift trucks, and associate lift rigging
Perform mechanical measurements using portable mechanical instruments such as dial indicators, micrometers, and portable vibration measurement equipment
Qualifications and Competencies:
3 or more years of experience as a machinist for electric motor repair preferred
Ability to read micrometer measuring equipment
Ability to operate manual lathes of various size and dimensions
Ability to operate electro-plating equipment
Ability to perform basic math functions
Ability to understand, perform and retain various job-related training, operational, and safety procedures
Ability to work overtime and weekends as required
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, and bend for prolonged periods of time
Ability to lift, push, pull, carry items up to 50 lbs.

Key Responsibilities
Perform manual machining at customer job sites across the U.S.
Operate mills, lathes, line boring equipment, and specialty portable machines
Read and interpret blueprints and job instructions
Work safely in industrial, construction, and outdoor environments
Communicate effectively with team members and customers
Travel for extended periods-often 50%-75% of the time
Work overtime, including 12+ hour shifts and 7-day work weeks when onsite
Qualifications
Required:
Ability and willingness to travel frequently
Mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills
Ability to work in physically demanding environments
Reliable, team-oriented work ethic
Valid driver's license
Preferred:
Machinist, millwright, mechanic, or field service experience
Blueprint reading experience
OSHA or safety training background
Schedule & Work Environment
Full-time, Monday-Friday when in the shop (8:00 AM-4:30 PM)
