In this role, you will be responsible for machining and manufacturing products for customers in a cost-efficient manner. This role requires proficiency in setting up and operating manual machine shop equipment. Successful candidates are self-motivated and skilled in using calibrated equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers) to measure component characteristics and ensure conformance prior to assembly. Additional competencies include interpreting manufacturing drawings, service manuals, and work instructions.
RESPONSIBILTIES:
Manufacturing customer parts efficiently to meet quality standards and routed hours, supporting company profitability.
Perform preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and keep it clean and in good operating condition.
Ensure manufactured work meets customer requirements; report nonconformances to the Quality Department before inspection.
Document work activity using manufacturing IT systems (e.g., routers, forms).
Log time accurately on router operations using scanners and input stations.
Complete daily production tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Adhere to all company safety policies and contribute to safety improvements (e.g., Job Safety Analyses).
Collaborate with the supervisor on process improvement ideas to enhance departmental efficiency.
Maintain a clean work area and apply 5S principles daily.
Stay aware of the Quality Management System and your role in supporting the Quality Policy.
Complete and maintain all required reports and records (e.g., Quality Plans, ITPs, routers, inspection reports).
Perform other duties as assigned.
SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
Proficient in using inspection tools (micrometers, Vernier calipers, gauges).
Ability to interpret manufacturing drawings, schematics, and GD&T.
For CNC Machinists:
- Verify CNC technology readiness and optimization, report issues or improvement needs.
- Ensure programming is completed before releasing jobs for production.
Skilled in general hand tool usage (must have tools).
Understand and follow quality system procedures, work instructions, and process maps.
Knowledge of ISO 9001 and API Q1 standard requirements.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to read and write in English.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
General Machinist: Minimum 5 years of experience with manual machine shop equipment (e.g., lathes, mills, grinders) or equivalent formal education.
CNC Machinist:
- Experience with tools like GibbsCAM for machine setup and programming.
- Ability to interpret CAD drawings, 3D models, and customer requirements to ensure accurate programming and quality production.

**Job Summary:**
Under limited supervision, assignment planning, layout, set-up, operating and making tool adjustments on various types of manual and conventional. machines. Works from drawings, process sheets and sketches to perform production tasks which may include cutting and shaping of metal to precision dimensions. Tasks and assignments tend to be complex and non-routine. This position requires competencies including molding, tooling, quality and technical leadership.
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities** include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
+ Reviews and verifies dimensions and tolerances in drawings to determine best setup and work operation sequences.
+ Selects, aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools or materials onto machines.
+ Manufactures jigs, fixtures, dies, molds, machine tools, cutting tools, gauges, and production tooling used in manufacturing processes.
+ Utilizes knowledge of machines and tools including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.
+ Verifies conformance of finished product to specifications.

Recognize properly use cutting tools including carbide inserts, fixtures and tooling
Participate in daily, regular housekeeping and cleaning of work area.

Ability to work directly with Shop Manager and shop Rotating Equipment Specialists during the Disassembly, Clean & Inspection (DCI) and the Assembly of various industrial equipment as they are evaluated and or assembled

* Interprets blueprints/drawings to determine critical dimensions, etc. Ability to read Micrometers, Vernier Calipers, Dial Indicators & other precision measuring & test equipment as required.
* Able to maintain low tolerances as indicated by specifications or drawings as low as .0005" at times.
* Understands how to select appropriate cutting tools for various metals. Understands how to determine speeds and feeds to obtain proper surface finish.
* Able to work overtime; typically throughout the week and occasionally on weekends.
* Safe operation of Forklift within a Machine Shop environment. Safe Over Head Crane operation. Adheres to all company EH&S & QMS processes.
* Lifting and Rigging of heavy components of various configurations & weights. Assisting in the disassembly, reassembly, repair and rebuilding of Large Liquid Ring Vacuum Pumps.
* Other responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:
* Applicants will be required to demonstrate knowledge of machine setup, as well as usage of machine controls and capabilities.
* 3+ years of experience as a machine operator/Machinist.
* 2+ or more years of experience reading and interpreting blueprints.
* 1+ or more years of experience working on king style boring mills (or vtls)
* Ability to effectively and safely use a variety of tools and equipment, including but not limited to depth gauges, bore gauges, height gauges, feeler gauges, micrometers, calipers, deburring tools, die grinders, drill presses, and overhead lifting equipment.
Core Competencies:
* Proficiency with prioritizing and meeting multiple deadlines.
* Ability to convert between metric and US standard units of measure.
* Ability to deal with problems involving several variables
* Ability to use standard problem-solving methods (ie. 5 Whys) as trained
