Principal Duties/Responsibilities:
· Inspects, measures, troubleshoots, and repairs complex failures associated with Tool and Die.
· Develops and writes concise technical documents, including set-up procedures, PM procedures, and troubleshooting procedures.
· Heat-treats tools or parts.
· Measures, marks, and scribes metal stock for machining.
· Smoothes flat and contoured surfaces, using scrapers, abrasive stones, and power grinders, and fits and assembles parts together and into assemblies and mechanisms, using hand tools.
· Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances, using measuring instruments, such as dial indicators, gauge blocks, thickness gauges, and micrometers.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Behaviors Required:
· Post-secondary technical training or certification preferred
· At least seven years related experience with tool and die tasks
· At least five years previous experience with measurement processes and equipment capabilities used in order to perform repairs and adjustments to complex die sets
· At least two years previous experience with electronic drawing such as AutoCad, Pro-E or Solid Works and ability to modify existing drawings
· AT least two years previous experience performing heat treat processes on tool and die components
· Proficiency with failure analysis, reliability studies, and performance enhancements
· Ability to read and understand quality reports and testing methods

Who You Are & What You'll Do

We're looking for a skilled and experienced CNC Machine Setup Level II to join our team. This person will be responsible for setting up complex parts from start to finish on CNC machines and supporting daily production through tool changes, machine changeovers, and routine maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up complex parts on CNC machines (multi-axis lathes, Swiss-type lathes, vertical machining centers)
Perform tool changes, changeovers, and routine machine maintenance
Follow safety standards at all times (PPE, lifting techniques, safe chip handling, etc.)
Keep a clean and organized work area (toolbox, machines, gage tables, etc.)
Log setup and tool change times accurately using data collection terminals
Read and interpret complex blueprints and geometric tolerances
Select appropriate tooling from vending machines and tool cribs
Follow and complete setup instructions, tool layouts, and checklists
Conduct visual inspections and complete 1st article inspections to verify part quality
Perform minor program edits (tool locations, speeds/feeds) under supervision
Change stick tools, drills, boring bars, reamers, knurls (live and static tools)
Collaborate with engineering to optimize speeds, feeds, and cycle times
Mentor and support junior machinists and operators
Complete all job-related documentation accurately
Suggest process improvements and machining best practices
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
8-10 years of precision CNC machine setup experience in a machine shop environment
Strong experience with measuring instruments and quality inspections
Proficiency with multi-axis CNC lathes, Swiss-type machines, and machining centers
Ability to write CNC programs using CAM software
Deep understanding of tooling, tool holders, inserts, and machine controls
Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude
Ability to work independently and in a team within a fast-paced environment
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Reliable and consistent attendance is a must
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience mentoring others in a shop environment
Familiarity with setup optimization and process improvement initiatives
Shift Hours:
1st Shift: 6:00am to 2:30pm
2nd Shift:2:00pm to 10:30pm
includes a .50 shift differential
3rd Shift: 10:00pm to 6:30am
includes a 10% shift differential
