Position Summary
We are seeking a Machinist to support our aftermarket repair and upgrade business in our Denham Springs PRO Services shop. Building on centuries of pump design experience, PRO Services provides an array of services focuses on reducing equipment total cost of ownership and increasing plant output, including condition monitoring, predictive maintenance contracts, field service, engineered upgrades, inventory management, and overhauls for pumps and other rotating equipment. The Machinist sets up and operates CNC lathes and CNC mills, as well as manual equipment with little or no supervision, by performing the following duties. May need assistance in set-up and reading blueprints.
Essential Responsibilities
Operates and tends a variety of machine tools, such as lathes, drill presses, milling machines, grinders to machine metalwork according to production specifications.
Applies appropriate machining processes to repair pumps and rotating equipment as specified by work orders, blueprints, sketches or charts.
Performs all work in accordance with established quality & safety procedures.
Applies mastery of skills.
Adapts procedures, techniques, tools, equipment, and materials to meet special needs.
Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements, may need assistance.
Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining.
Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly.
Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and tests operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance.
Develops specifications from general description and draws sketch of part or product to be fabricated.

**In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:**
+ Be responsible for personal safety and for the safety of others. Must maintain excellent housekeeping standards.
+ Set-up, indicate, and machine raw material (bar stock, forgings, and castings) to manufacture Fisher parts to OEM print dimensions.
+ Cross-train on all machines to prevent lapse in production flow including but not limited to engine lathes, manual drills, horizontal bandsaws, CNC lathes, VTLs, HBMs, and CNC mills.
+ Must understand material hardness, cutting tools, speeds and feeds, coolant requirements and machining techniques.
+ Interpret geometric dimensioning and tolerances (GD&T) per part drawings.
+ Potential for field assignments using in-line machine. Some travel may be required.
+ Adherence to all safety, quality, and environmental rules and regulations.

+ Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
