Materials director job description

You will lead a team of 3 highly skilled professionals that provide foundational information needed within Autocar and its supply base, including (1) forecasts, (2) supply chain process adherence, (3) sunsetting of parts (excess and obsolescence management), and organizational leading/lagging metrics. The result of this effort will ensure that Autocar has the right products, at the right quantities, in the right place, at all times.

You'll Achieve These Key Outcomes:

Publish a 12-month rolling forecast at the part level for Autocar Supply base

As a key member of the Inquiry to Order Process, measure and communicate Supply Chains ability to support timelines and deliverables

Maintain the proper configuration of Autocar Supplier Portal to ensure it accurately reflects firmed and planned orders

Set up new suppliers and maintain an accurate supplier master file

Maintain a Plan for Every Part (PFEP) program with periodic review periods

Sunset parts collaboratively and run an active program to reduce excess and obsolete materials

Maintain the Autocar Supplier Scorecard Systems and publish results internally and externally on a monthly basis

Generate key Supply Chain Metrics that ensure monitoring of key leading process metrics and outcomes that support Autocars goals/excellence

Your Background Includes:

Bachelor's degree

Operations or Supply Chain Management or Industrial Engineering degrees preferred

Minimum of 5 years' experience in planning roles, S&OP, and production/inventory management in commodities or manufacturing

Working knowledge with S&OP process, systems, tools, and methods

Working knowledge of production/inventory principles and concepts (i.e. S&OP, Master scheduling, inventory management, capacity planning, etc.)

Experience in materials planning using a Materials Planning (MRP) system; QAD experience is a plus

Experience with statistical and analytics software (i.e. Power BI, Excel, Word, Power Point, Access, SAS, Minitab, etc.)

You may have Supply Chain Certification (APICS, CPIM, CSCM)

You enjoy translating and integrating systems to interpret data analytics and facilitate effective communications with key stakeholders

You thrive under the challenge to deliver custom solutions for your customers on time, every time - even when customer requirements change

Role Summary
:

The Director, MRP is responsible for evaluating business demand signals across all physical products and managing a team, who place manufacturing, rework, or consolidation orders for finished goods, components, corrugate displays, and distributor packs. The team must ensure that product is available to fulfill customer sales orders timely and efficiently, while minimizing costs. The Director frequently communicates with vendors, partners, and other internal departments to manage priorities, capacity constraints, system enhancements and issue resolution.


Essential Responsibilities
:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Support and develop a team of Supply Chain professionals through clear goal setting and regular performance reviews, talent reviews, annual compensation cycles, and training and development Ensure all manufacturing PO’s are resolved and closed with vendors on-time to support distribution demands; act as escalation point for exceptions Support internal costing, billing, and inventory reconciliation efforts Review manufacturing vs demand plan on a weekly basis. Provide reporting as needed. Ensure that manufacturing is aligned with the forecast and that procurement adjustments are made in support of business objectives Manage vendor relationships including BPO resources, and ensure SLA’s are monitored Provide input in Sales and Operations review meetings to adjust priorities, address capacity constraints and other issue resolution(s) Initiate system enhancements, business process changes, and cost savings initiatives for key supply chain projects Communicate directly with SDS Management, major studios, and partners anything related to MRP Help create a culture of inclusion and collaboration across the supply chain team and its stakeholders
Qualifications
:
Bachelor’s degree preferred, not required 7+ years of MRP/purchasing experience in a supply chain function Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with all levels Engineering, Supply Chain background and/or procurement training High level of ERP/SAP exposure and training Experience in distribution, freight, and logistics a plus Experience managing, directing, and motivating a team

The Product Deliver Center (PDC) Organization has an opportunity for the Director, PDC Materials position. The selected candidate will lead and manage significant organizational change that integrates systems, processes, and culture. They will drive resolution of complex cross-functional and organizational issues that require significant stakeholder engagement and influencing. The candidate will also focus on data driven decisions to drive both top and bottom line performance leveraging strong process flow, equipment, and process control knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:

* Customer Communication / Risk Assessment - Work with the command center and customers to ensure parts produced by the business unit are delivered in a timely manner. Also, communicate / negotiate delivery plans that satisfy customer needs and meet financial goals.
* Schedule Optimization - Ensure SIOP Process/Results is being communicated and ultimately results in alignment with build plans. Provide input into MRP demand load and business schedule. The schedule should be optimized for several factors; maximized use of business unit capacity, minimized inventory, and on-time fulfillment of customer requirements.
* Capacity / Lead-Time Improvements - Strategically deploy initiatives targeted to address opportunities for capacity and lead-time improvements on material flow. Lead the organization in the implementation of identified opportunities. Ensure alignment with OpX organization for continued deployment of visual factory as well as enhanced automation strategies.
* Starts Management - Empower the team to ensure schedules are met through the on-time starting of material. Identify common causes of late starts. Enable/Lead open communication with production and suppliers to correct issues as identified.
* Finance - Lead initiatives targeted to ensuring we meet Financial Metrics including but not limited to Aged Inventory, Operating Expenses, Headcount Alignment, and Overtime Management.

Basic Qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management, or applicable field and 14+ years of Operations Experience; OR an Advanced Degree and 12+ years of Operations Experience
* U.S. Citizenship required due to government contracts

Preferred Qualifications:

* Advanced degree in Operations Management, Business, or applicable field
* Experience leading team of direct reports, preferably cross-functional or General Manager-type role
* Operations experience in manufacturing
* Experience leading a P&L and/or with cost, budget, or project management
* Strategic Leadership experience
* Forecasting and/or planning experience
* Experience leading self-directed work teams across multiple functional disciplines
