Chemours is seeking a MechanicalEngineer - Fixed Equipment to join our growing Thermal & Specialized Solutions Business team. The position will be available at the Chemours Corpus Christi Plant located in Ingleside, TX and report directly to the Manufacturing Technology Manager.
This role will serve as a Plant Support Engineer for one or more areas of the assets at this facility. The individual will provide overall MechanicalEngineering guidance and support for the Operations, Maintenance, and Technology Teams for their area(s). This role will entail involvement in day-to-day troubleshooting in the plant, as well as support for improvement programs in the areas of Safety (PSM), Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), reliability, cost, and new capital installations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The role will include, but are not limited to the following:
Provide mechanical expertise for troubleshooting, maintaining, and modifying operating equipment and facilities.
Provide technical troubleshooting and training for the operating and maintenance teams.
Provide Mechanical expertise for project work to ensure its compliance with specifications, engineering standards and quality assurance.
Lead PSM criticality assessment process to ensure adequate rationale is provided to develop and manage the MIQA effort, including critical spare parts, SAP data, inspection plans and frequencies, and maintenance procedures.
Analyze equipment trends, historical data, and uptime data to recommend and justify improvements to obtain the lowest life cycle cost on different classes of equipment.
Leads and participates in Safety, Reliability and Quality Investigations.
Participate in maintenance and reliability networks and share best practices, successes, and failures.
Perform failure mode and effect analyses to develop appropriate equipment maintenance plans to include equipment checks and predictive preventative maintenance (PPM) performed by operators and mechanics.
Provides support for both cost and capital projects, including scope development, justification, and coordinating installation of new/modified facilities.
Maintain personal level of technical expertise in key technologies via training, seminars, and professional organizations.
Provide shift/weekend coverage for start-ups, tests, maintenance turnarounds, or other non-routine needs.
Travel requirements are less than 15%.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree in MechanicalEngineering from an ABET accredited university.
2+ years of related industrial / manufacturing work experience in fixed equipment (will consider up to 1 year of degree relevant intern / co-op experience).
Basic knowledge of mechanicalengineering fixed equipment principles (piping, pressure vessels, valves, and welding).
Ability to diagnose and solve technical problems - making data-based decisions.
Comfortable working both independently and in a team environment.

Responsibilities
POSITION OUTLINE:
The objective of the Engineering Intern is to prepare for the heavy civil construction industry. This is accomplished through field and office experiences working alongside Civil, Mechanical and Environmental Engineers in a dynamic hands-on program.
Safety:
Assist and prepare in giving Tool Box Safety Talks, Daily Safety Huddles and maintain records
Assist in One Call Center requests to ensure no utilities are damaged during construction activities
Maintain a retrievable filing system for the Hazardous Communication Program - MSDS
Maintain the Project Safety Manual, make periodic jobsite safety inspections and record file all findings
Payments:
Perform daily Quantity Review with Superintendent and Job Foreman
Enter daily quantities into system and file daily sheets
Track completion of work on project plans
Perform monthly review of estimates with job Superintendent
Notify Project Manager or Area Manager of anticipated overruns/under runs
Daily Logs:
Maintain General correspondence file with correspondence log
Maintain Shop Drawing Log
Maintain Subcontractor daily log
Maintain Delivery log
Accurately track Asphalt and other major materials that are delivered
Certified Payroll, EEO, Trainee Reports:
Track all subcontractors that worked on the project for the month utilizing the Subcontractor daily log.
Enter daily payroll information by specific task and assist in productivity tracking
Miscellaneous:
Maintain Job Records
Track Job Codes using Phase Code System
Maintain the Request for Information (RFI) to the owner
Assist in the purchase of job materials to ensure the proper quantities are delivered
Assist in estimating additional work
Review project plans and assist in ensuring work in completed properly
Assist in developing project look-ahead schedules
Enrolled in Civil, Mechanical or Environmental Engineering program
Qualifications
To Qualify for Internship:
Enrolled in Civil, Mechanical, Environmental Engineering, or Construction Management program
Interest in heavy construction such as site-work, roads or environmental
Location: HOUSTON, TX; AUSTIN, TX; MISSION, TX
