An Industrial Mechanical Technical Designer will perform industrial and mechanicalengineering services on industrial process projects of small to large scope for facilities that process minerals, fertilizers, pulp and paper, and petrochemicals, among others and should have substantial knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
* Bulk material handling
* Process piping
* Conveyance equipment
* Dust collection
* Chute fabrication drawings
* Tank/bin design
* Rotating equipment
* Equipment platforms/catwalks
Familiarity with MSHA standards and other related industrial process design parameters is highly desired. Design or construction experience in Design/Build and EPC project delivery methods is desirable.
Project responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
* Responsible for document organization and clarity
* Responsible for discipline drawing coordination
* Develop design options for resolution of system conflicts
* Develop proposals and project reports
* Monitor individual performance relative to project budget and schedule
* Coordinate work product with other disciplines
* Adhere to project budget and schedule
* Travel up to 20%
Required Skills
* Performing various design services as an engineer, including Conceptual Studies, Process flow diagrams, P&IDs, mass balance, calculations, equipment selection, instrument selection and general arrangements for bulk material handling, process piping, conveyance equipment detail shop drawings, dust collection, chute fabrication drawings, tank/bin design, and equipment platforms/catwalks with minimal direction from supervising staff.
* Coordinating and communicating all aspects of industrial and mechanical design within multi-disciplinary teams as requested by the Design Manager or Project Engineer.
* Developing project schematic designs, design development designs, and construction documents
* Complying with quality control policies and procedures
* Providing support services during the bidding process, i.e., preparing addenda, amendments, attend pre-bid meetings, open bids, tabulate bids, technical bid analysis, etc.
* Performing construction phase services including representing the firm on-site, answering RFI's, reviewing shop drawings, preparing as-builts, etc. as directed
* Working with, responding to, and taking direction from senior engineers and project managers

Required Experience
* Must have graduated from an ABET-accredited 4-, 5-, or 6-year engineering program ideally in a field of study related to mechanicalengineering.
* Should be able to effectively utilize current company software programs for word processing, e-mail, and information management. Working familiarity with design and production software to a point of being able to utilize the software in the development of project documents and interact with other project team members in their use of the software is highly desirable. Specific software includes:
* Microsoft Office
* AutoCAD
* Revit
* BIM
* An Industrial Mechanical Technical Designer III should typically have 8-12 years of significant design and practice experience with an Industrial firm or multi-discipline Architectural & Engineering firm

Project Overview & Description: The scope of the project is three fold. 1) design and implement best practice outfall discharge points that are safe and functional for stormwater and NPDES outfall sampling; 2) Evaluate the current stormwater systems and design improvements to the systems that best support minimal water discharge from site; and 3) to organize and digitize the supporting documentation for compliance activities occurring onsite.
Project Description & Deliverables: Observe and document current preventative maintenance practices. Research OEM recommendations/schedules and compare with current practices. From these inputs, recommend and develop improved PMs that can be implemented, working with personnel at the site to update the PMs in the CMMS, and train maintenance personnel on their execution, developing SOPs and guides/resource materials as necessary. Many of the site's PMs are based on historical practices. Information on recommended maintenance schedules from OEMs is sometimes limited. The purpose of this project is to develop more comprehensive PM plans that better incorporate OEM guidance so that the site can better maintain its assets, reduce unscheduled downtime and allow for better cost management.

Some examples of embedded software development applications include Datalink communications, Inputs and Outputs [Sensors and actuators], speed calculation, injection/spark timing, memory management, CPU optimization, multi core design and implementation etc. In addition, some areas of work include developing scripts in Python/Visual Basic for automation.
+ **Software Validation/Verification for Electronic Systems:** Verify functionality of a feature or control system algorithm on a HIL [Hardware in the Loop] simulator bench or a SIL [Software in the loop] system. Understand requirements of the feature and/or the schematics of the controller / control system, verify functionality and debug/report anomalies to the development team and help validate fixes.
+ **Engineering Data Analytics:** Leverage ability to write and understand computer code, especially Python; apply knowledge of data analytics/data science, machine learning concepts/tools, and engineering and statistics fundamentals.
+ **Process Engineering:** Apply mechanical, manufacturing, systems and/or industrial engineering knowledge to analyze and optimize an engineering process or processes. Will have the opportunity to leverage problem-solving and communication skills.
