What You Will Do:
Communicate technical topics and issues in a clear and concise manner to both technical peers as well as non-technical team members.
Conduct and provide constructive feedback during peer reviews. Mentor and document knowledge to provide technical guidance to both members of own team and beyond.
Interface with a cross functional team, such as Electrical and Systems engineering, to ensure requirements compliance throughout the entirety of a product's lifecycle.
Work proactively and in a self-driven manner with an integrated product team (IPT) to manage project scope and budget, as well as identify risks and opportunities.
Participate in and lead investigations into highly complex, open-ended tasks. Search for and identify root cause of issues.
Create military compliant designs that incorporate custom machined/sheet metal parts with a selection of commercial off the shelf items as required.
Contribute to prototyping and testing activities to verify product requirements compliance.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
Background in commercial industry standards and military electronics packaging form factors, chassis design, and electromechanical applications.
Experience with 3D CAD software (Solidworks, Creo, CATIA, NX, or similar) and the ability to apply best practices with said tools.
Qualifications We Prefer:
Active possession of an active U.S. government issued Secret or Top Secret clearance.
Practical experience in design and thermal management techniques for electronics packaging designs (enclosures and/or racks) with rigorous size, weight, and power (SWaP) requirements.
Direct experience with printed circuit board (PCB) designs. Can support tasks not directly mechanical such as component selection and layout to ensure mechanical environmental considerations are met.
Experience interfacing with aircraft platform level design teams to support installation and integration of B-Kit items.
Can apply and interpret Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5.
Knowledge of military standards such as MIL-STD-810, RTCA DO-160, and MIL-STD-1472.
Experience working with standard form factor industry standards such as EIA-310, ATR, or VITA.
Hands-on experience designing to meet and qualifying products for rugged environments such as those with electromagnetic interference (EMI), electromagnetic pulse (EMP), and nuclear exposure.
Familiar with thermal and structural Finite Element Analysis (FEA) best practices. (Ansys)
Working knowledge of Agile development methods for hardware.
Either familiar with or preferably experienced with Control Account Management (CAM) and earned value techniques.
Experience with rapid prototyping process methods, such as 3D printing, for mid-stream design verifications.
Practical experience with designing for anti-tamper considerations for NSA compliance.
Practical experience with designing for TEMPEST considerations for NSA compliance.

As an employee-owner hired for an internship, you will be given the title of "Project Intern" and your duties could consist of:
Processing submittals by reviewing, stamping, filing and distributing submittals
Sending RFI's to architects and engineers
Keeping concrete, rebar, RFI, and plan logs up to date
Resolving problems generated from the plans and specifications
Establishing control points and lines using field instruments (level, theodolite, total station)
Locating embeds in the slab and verifying embed locations per approved shops
Assist in locating openings in the structure and assist in establishing vertical control for the structure
Locating other miscellaneous items in the field (curbs, inlets, etc.)
Documentation- updating and distributing construction drawings, specification, shop drawings and samples

Maintaining city inspection records and walking with Superintendent during inspections

Project Interns can expect a preliminary meeting with their supervisor to discuss the goals, expectations, and desired outcomes of the internship. Employee-owners participating in an internship will be reviewed upon the completion of their internship. This review should be used as a tool to communicate the successes and learning outcomes of the internship. The supervisor will also complete any necessary paperwork that must be provided to the Project Intern's school or university.
Individuals hired as interns will be classified as Temporary employee-owners as defined in Policy A-5. Temporary employee-owners are not eligible for vacation pay, holiday pay or any of the other benefits listed in Policy A-5.

For college students interested in engineering design for the built environment, CMTA has a robust co-op program for students pursuing a degree in MechanicalEngineering, Electrical Engineering, and Architectural Engineering. We offer an opportunity for students to immerse themselves for one or more semesters in the consulting engineering world. Our co-ops build industry competitive skills in a hands-on environment, all while working on a team, and being trained by Professional Engineers in AutoCAD and Revit. The skills our co-ops learn allow them to create real construction drawings for real CMTA projects.
This position is a full time (40 hrs./week), onsite position with a competitive hourly pay rate and eligible for overtime pay. This position will start May 2026 and go through Summer. Dates are flexible with school calendar. Our hope is that the co-op students that are hired will do multiple co-op rotations with CMTA with possible consideration for full time employment upon graduation.

**Job Responsibilities**
+ Work closely with and assist engineers in the conduct of various engineering assignments
