Job Purpose
The Fluid Conveyance team, part of the NAFTA Mechanical Commodity group, is responsible for managing cylinders, hoses, tubes, and fittings that support CNH's NAFTA product lines. The team plays a critical role in ensuring that these components meet cost, quality, and delivery targets while supporting product development and manufacturing operations.
As a Mechanical Commodity Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in supplier management, sourcing strategy, and cost analysis, directly supporting CNH's global supply chain initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities may include:
* Preparing and evaluating supplier quotes to support purchasing decisions
* Participating in sourcing decisions by analyzing supplier capabilities, costs, and risks
* Contributing to the development of sourcing strategies to optimize cost, quality, and supply continuity
* Collaborating with the Fluid Conveyance team and other supply chain functions to align supplier recommendations with product and business needs
* Supporting day-to-day activities that drive cost reduction and operational efficiency within the commodity group
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates must be pursuing (at minimum) a Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field
Pay Transparency
The annual salary for this role is USD $18.00 - $35.50 plus any applicable bonus (Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.)

I. BASIC FUNCTION
The Engineering Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing engines and equipment onboard vessels and barges to ensure they are fit for service. This includes performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and conducting repairs on mechanical and electrical systems.

5. Must have towboat repair experience.
6. Knowledge of the following engines preferred: Caterpillar 3512B, Cummins, K19, K38, QSK50, QSK19.
7. Strong knowledge of marine electrical systems and diagnostic procedures.
8. Familiarity with applicable code of federal regulations.
VI. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Ability to climb ladders and stairs.
2. Ability of repetitive bending and stooping, lifting heavy marine equipment.
3. Ability to lift & carry up to 75 pounds.
4. Ability to work outdoors in all elements during all seasons.
5. Capable use of safety gear including, but not limited to, hard hats, safety goggles, hearing protection, and steel toe boots.

What You Will Do
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will demonstrate creative skills in a dynamic environment. Your focus will be on designing new product lines, prototyping new concepts, presenting solutions to customers, modifying existing product lines, lowering costs of components, improving manufacturability, reducing assembly time, fixing issues that customers encounter, designing packaging materials, refining installation processes, improving product quality, etc. A successful candidate will communicate with confidence and clarity to both technical and non-technical people and reassure all stakeholders through any technical process. Work with sales, operations, and engineering teams to design new products that solve customer's problems
Make improvements/corrections/cost-reductions to existing products.
Participate in determining product definitions and specifications.
Lead the product improvement design process, including CAD design, detailed product drawings, Bill-Of-Materials modifications, material and finish specifications, vendor selection, assembly instructions, FEA, cost analysis, etc.
Present technical root cause analysis or failure investigations
Analyze existing products using different methods and techniques and offer cost-reduction and improvement ideas to help increase margins, improve manufacturability, reduce inventory space, etc. while adhering to the design requirements.
Create CAD models and dimensional drawings from rough sketches, models, written or verbal direction, and/or marked up engineering drawings using SolidWorks.
Conduct cost analysis and contribute to cost reduction efforts on existing products.
Make corrections/improvements to products based on feedback from customers and sales team members
Build prototypes to test functionality and fit.
Work with outside vendors to quote and source components.
Collaborate with other functional teams to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
Utilize 3D CAD software (SolidWorks or similar) to create views, angles, and exploded views for step-by-step procedure for use in technical manuals/ documents.
Performs additional duties as requested.

This is a full-time summer internship lasting from May 11, 2026, until August 28, 2026. The Intern, Mechanical is responsible for collaborating with the Mechanical Field leadership to ensure mechanical equipment inspection maintenance and repair is performed safely and efficiently. The incumbent works with different teams such as Mechanical, Transportation, and Reliability to contribute to safety orientation, compliance, enforcement, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). The position is involved in leading projects and overseeing project portfolios.
Major Responsibilities
* Support Online Failure Investigation and follow-up
* Assist in response to dangerous good incidents and leaks in yards
* Assist with creation, auditing, and implementation of standard operating procedures
* Contribute to ensuring that Performance Monitoring Reporting Compliance (PMRC) targets, expectations, and objectives are met
* Analyze car inspection and repair productivity using CN's data
* Perform analysis on locomotive reliability and repair billing initiatives
* Assist in identifying, developing, and initiating improvement activities
* Support in the creation and implementation of locomotive automated alerts
* Assist with development of KPIs on reliability performance
* Help in documenting, identifying, and analyzing failure patterns
* Launch surveys to conduct root cause analysis requirements
* Help with special projects, data analysis and recommendations for improvement, reporting, presentations, and onsite audits of various terminals throughout the region
Requirements
* Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams Notes, and Word)
* Knowledge of reporting software such as Tableau and Smartsheet
* Knowledge of Systems, Applications and Products (SAP), Query Designer, ARIBA or equivalent*
* Knowledge of Service Reliability System (SRS)*
* Valid Driver's License Ability to work outdoors in various types of weather and environmental conditions
* Ability to perform occasional travel (25%) between Canada and the United States (U.S.)
Education
* Working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, BCom, Computer Science, or Construction Management
* Any experience/education/skills/knowledge for these above would be considered as an asset
