ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a hands-on Product Design & Prototyping Engineer with strong expertise in CAD modeling and rapid prototyping. This role requires a balance of design creativity, technical skills, and practical knowledge of manufacturing processes. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, prototype, and support the development of innovative products, particularly in the domain of electronic enclosures and hardware systems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop high-quality 3D CAD models (Fusion 360 preferred) for product concepts and production-ready designs.
Operate and utilize rapid prototyping tools such as 3D printers and CNC machinery to create functional prototypes.
Support manufacturing processes including injection molding and vacuum casting for product development.

Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented CAD Intern to join our ADM Engineering Services Team. The CAD Design Intern will assist in the creation and modification of detailed 2D and 3D drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) software. Position Responsibility:
The CAD Intern's responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
Manage assigned projects for Summer 2026, with assistance from hiring manager and other Engineering Services colleagues.
Projects are assigned by the MPP Manager. Project tasks are carried out under the direction of the Project Manager and Project Engineer.
MPP Manager and Lead Designer will provide mentorship and direction.
Develop CAD deliverables per requirements and specifications, and ensure that they are complete and accurate. The deliverables include but are not limited to: 2D drawings, 3D models, P&ID & PFD's.
Develop skills to read and interpret design drawings.
Assist with field work, such as information gathering and laser scanning.
Responsible for accurate and timely project file management (CAD files, vendor files, emails, etc.) and dissemination of project information.
Present findings, project results and recommendations to engineering leadership at the conclusion of the internship.
Internship Program Requirements:

+ Must be enrolled in first year at a 4-year university/college as a full-time student pursuing an ABET accredited degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Agricultural or Aerospace Engineering or Engineering Technology at the time of application and throughout the program
+ Must have completed at least 24 to 40 semester hours from current institution before the start of the internship. If a transfer student, must have 12 semester hours completed at a 4-year university
+ Minimum 3.0/4.0 Cumulative Grade Point Average (no rounding) from current institution before the start of the internship
+ Minimum 3.0/4.0 Cumulative Grade Point Average (no rounding) on formal high school transcripts
+ Must be able to relocate to Peoria, IL area or indicated work location for the duration of the internship and complete daily work commute using reliable transportation
+ Top candidates are currently participating or have previously participated in a Caterpillar High School Student Program, or equivalent experience

+ Previous technical internship, co-op, or research/relevant experience
+ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

**Summary Pay Range:**
