What you will do:
Johnson Controls is seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our Product Development team in Glendale, WI. This internship offers hands-on experience supporting the design, development, and testing of innovative electromechanical products, including valves, actuators, thermostats, and building automation components. You will work alongside experienced engineers to assist in prototyping, testing, and design activities that contribute to new product development and sustaining engineering efforts.
How you will do it:
Under the guidance of senior engineers, you will:
Assist in mechanical design and development of electromechanical products such as actuators, valves, and gear-driven systems.
Support prototype builds using 3D printing and rapid prototyping techniques.
Create and update 3D CAD models and drawings using Creo or similar tools.
Help perform basic FEA analysis and interpret results under supervision.
Participate in design reviews, tolerance stack-ups, and documentation activities.
Aid in laboratory testing and validation of components and assemblies.
Assist with VAVE projects, product enhancements, and sustaining engineering tasks.
Prepare technical reports, maintain lab equipment, and organize test setups.

Required Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's program in Mechanical Engineering (junior or senior level preferred).
CAD experience with 3D modeling (Creo preferred).
Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn advanced tools and methods.
Ability to work full-time during summer; part-time during school year may be possible.
Must be local to Milwaukee / Glendale, WI, or commutable distance.

Term: Summer 2026 (May-August)
Key Responsibilities:
Process QSM tasks by researching intent and requirements related to documentation changes and implementing them in SolidWorks models and drawings as approved by the Change Team.
Update CAD models and drawings for new machine construction based on feedback from Assembly, as approved by Product Development Engineering.
Assist machine designers by conducting purchased-part research, performing light design tasks, and organizing documentation.
Create detailed and assembly drawings of new SolidWorks models.

Identify equipment needs and process specifications; lead the implementation of these requirements into the production environment.
Act as a technical liaison between operations and design engineering to facilitate smooth communication.
Support the culture of continuous improvement through the Lean journey, assisting in the development and coaching of associates on Lean philosophies.
Qualifications:

The Driveline Engineering team, based in Oak Brook, designs and develops transmissions and axles for CNH's large tractor product lines. By working on both current production and next-generation driveline systems, the team ensures performance, reliability, and innovation in one of the most critical systems of agricultural equipment.
As a Driveline Engineer Intern, you will gain hands-on experience with design, modeling, and analysis of driveline components while contributing to real-world projects that impact CNH products.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities may include:
* Assisting with the design, integration, and application of driveline components and systems for large tractor programs
* Supporting transmission architecture development activities
* Creating and modifying 3D models and 2D drawings in Pro-E for parts and component assemblies
* Performing stress and life calculations to confirm that components and systems meet performance requirements
* Troubleshooting and solving complex engineering problems with guidance from the driveline team
* Collaborating with engineers to support production and new product development initiatives
* Traveling as needed to the Racine manufacturing plant or Racine Lakeside test facility to support design validation activities
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates must be pursuing (at minimum) a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Agriculture Engineering, or a related field.
Pay Transparency

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & REPONSIBILITIES :
Learn the Change Management, New Product Development, and Value Analysis/Value Engineering processes and contribute as a Product Development Engineering team member.
Support Sales and Application Engineering team in addressing customer requests for quotation and ordering of modified or custom Perlick products.
Create and maintain CAD models and Engineering drawings in SolidWorks and release to PDM and ERP systems to support prototype, custom, and production configuration and release.
Support the design validation planning, documentation, prototype build, physical testing, data analysis, and reporting for new and existing products. Including inventorying, disposition, and scrapping of test articles.
Work with your supervisor to identify and execute a “win-win” activity that supports the candidate's own educational and career goals while also benefiting Perlick's business needs.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
Must be enrolled in an accredited university/college program in pursuit of a 2 or 4 year degree in an Engineering discipline. This role has been designed for current students looking for co-op completion duties, or college course work credits.
Must be capable of reporting to the Perlick, Milwaukee Headquarters when needed. This role is not considered hybrid or remote, but flexibility is available based on class schedules.
