Position Summary
Responsible for laboratory testing, quality control, phlebotomy, instrument maintenance and troubleshooting. Perform manual and automated routine blood tests. Prepare specimens for microscope examination. Operate laboratory equipment including centrifuges, dry bath incubators, and blood bank refrigerators.
Key Performance Areas
Responsible for performing proper quality control procedures before proceeding with patient testing.
Ensure that proper documentation including test report logs, quality control logs, equipment records, and all lab procedure and training checklists are completed on the correct time schedule. Will be responsible to ensure this is performed in central lab.
Maintain adequate inventory of laboratory supplies. Place order with purchasing as needed.
Perform technical laboratory procedures with accuracy and precision, meeting the standard of all accreditation/regulatory agencies.
Perform instrument maintenance at the required times and as needed.
Initiate troubleshooting procedures when instrument malfunction occurs and contact instrument service company, if necessary.
Comply with established safety guidelines and maintains cleanliness of the laboratory and equipment.
Complete any and all duties required to keep laboratory in compliance with state and federal regulatory agencies. Must be able to perform compliance testing.
Maintain and ensure the confidentiality of all patient and employee information at all times.
Comply with all Federal and State laws and regulations pertaining to patient care, patient's rights, safety, billing, and collections. Adhere to all AON and departmental policies and procedures, including IT policies and procedures and the Disaster Recovery Plan.
Must maintain MLT license and required CEUs.
Assist in training new employees to related job duties.
Will be expected to work overtime when given sufficient notice of required overtime.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Experience, and Training
Must possess high school diploma or equivalent.
A Medical Assistant Degree is preferred.
Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
Previous experience in phlebotomy is preferred.
Previous experience in data entry, medical insurance, accounting, and/or credit and collections preferred.
Must have proficiency in clerical skills, computer skills, and phone etiquette.
Ability to learn and navigate computer systems including the online training modules, the employee timesheet and the performance appraisal system. Job specific systems are also required.
Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
Must have strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Must be able to perform many different functions, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure.

JOB SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Laboratory Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean, professional and safe working environment in the lab at all times. Team members in this position run multiple tests in accordance to the Standard Operation Procedures (SOP), ensure tests are completed in a timely manner and complete tests in a frequency that is established by the Quality Manager. If any testing results are out of range, it is the responsibility of the Laboratory Technician to report this information to the Quality Manager. This position is largely self-directed and requires understanding company policy, procedures and values.
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM
Maintain a clean, professional and safe working environment in the laboratory.
Perform quality control tests on product streams.
Coordinate test results with operators to ensure optimum quality and efficiency.
Maintain laboratory supplies and provide supply orders to the Quality Manager.
Perform tests in accordance with approved POET SOP's and according to the frequency established by the Quality Manager and/or Operations.
Ensure all data is entered in a timely manner.
Ensure all Quality Control Standards, duplicates and cross-validations are completed as established by POET Biorefining standard operating procedure.
Perform NIR IT (PQ) testing on a weekly basis and report any test failures to the Quality Manager.
Notify the Quality Manager when any quality control standards are not within specified limits.
Work with operations on special testing requests.
Must be able to meet call-in requirements as well as work extended hours as necessary.
Foster a culture of safe behavior and environmental compliance at all times.
Maintain a team environment at all times and champion POET in the community.

What you will Do:
Obtains proper specimens for testing.
Performs clinical testing of laboratory specimens and reviews data for clinical correlation.
Performs quality control testing on all analyzers and analytes and interprets results.
Troubleshoots instrumentation and assays.
Adheres to all safety, infection control and colleague health policies and procedures.
Based on principles of growth and development, provides care appropriate to the age related needs of the patients served on his/her assigned unit, which may include:
Birth-28 days: Neonate
1-18 Months: Infant
18 Mo-3 Yrs: Toddler
3-6 Yrs: Pre-School Aged
6-12 Yrs: School-Aged
12-18 Yrs: Adolescents
18-65 Yrs: Adults
65+ Yrs: Geriatrics

Minimum Qualifications:
Associates Degree: Medical Laboratory Technician program. ASCP eligible and successfully pass certification exam within 6 months of hire or certified Medical Laboratory Technician by ASCP. Mandatory Reporter.

Job Description
Responsible for executing department specific tasks in accordance with all applicable cGMPs and compliant with Corporate/site procedures, regulations and policies. The Quality Scientist I role completes daily testing of samples received from production. The role works to complete tests in a timely manner to meet the established testing time. Proficient with statistics (P charts), Excel and minitab (statistical software or another type of stat package).

• Testing of samples from manufacturing to ensure Quality and compliance according to all applicable assays utilizing good aseptic practices.

• Properly navigate the QC software packages used during routine work

• Participate in Media Fill inspections
• Responsible for monitoring of lab equipment
• Responsible for completing Gram Stain work

• Basic problem solving skills and demonstrate trouble shooting ability.
• Maintain appropriate departmental cGMP documentation.
• Execute all written procedures.
