The Student Nurse Extern 1 (SNE 1) works under the direction of the registered nurse (RN) as a non-licensed team member. As a non-licensed team member, the SNE 1 provides care to designated patients and supports the patient care team. Job duties include provision of activities of daily living, mobility assistance, continuous observation including suicide prevention, and ensuring the patient's surroundings are clean and orderly. The Student Nurse Extern 2 and 3 work under the direction of the registered nurse (RN) building on your skills as a SNE 1. As a SNE 2 or 3 you will grow your nursing skills by honing your assessment skills of your patients mental, physical, and spiritual needs. The SNE3 position is for pre-licensure RN students in their final year of nursing education.     Performs and analyzes arterial and capillary sticks on infants and pediatric patients as applicable. Performs emergent and elective intubation upon request of a physician if applicable. Performs and interprets pulse oximetry, capnography and transcutaneous monitoring measurements. Provides therapy as needed in the Special Care Nursery such as oxygen therapy, treatments, or ventilator care if applicable. Sets up special ventilator techniques used in the Critical Care Unit. Serves as a consultant to physicians and department staff on matters of respiratory care. Evaluates the patients care plan upon request of a physician or other department personnel and makes recommendations for changes as appropriate. May be called upon to act in the absence of the supervisor as applicable. Completes other duties and special projects as assigned. Secondary Job Duties That May be Reassigned: Assists in the blood gas quality assurance program. Actively participates in staff development activities such as in-service programs, procedure development, and equipment check-offs. Provides inter-hospital transportation of the critical ill patient when respiratory failure appears eminent, and the high risk obstetric patient. Actively participates in the department quality assurance program. Job Specifications: Education: Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent training as approved by Medical Director. Experience: One year with emphasis on critical care recommended. License/Credentials: Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC) Respiratory Care Practitioner (IPLA)

Purges all outdated items from the storeroom on a routine basis. Maintains emergency management supplies, rotates dated stock and inventories on a daily basis. Rotate inventory as needed through storeroom 5th and 7th floor storage Assist in helping with stock on 5th and 7th floor storage. Labels “special handling” items in the storeroom and checks overage pallet daily for items that need to be stocked. Assist as back up for par carts.
