During the course of their careers, special agents carry out assignments in both investigations and protection and may be assigned to multiple duty stations throughout the U.S. and abroad. Duties include:
Providing protection for various protectees.
Conducting criminal investigations pertaining to financial obligations of the United States.
Planning and implementing security designs for National Special Security Events.

Requirements

Possess a current valid driver's license
Carry and use a firearm. Maintaining firearm proficiency is mandatory.
Must be at least 21 years old at the time of application and under 40 at referral. Qualifications
As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you may be required to serve a 2-year trial period during which we will evaluate your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest. * Have at least one full year of graduate level education (i.e. 18 semester hours); OR
* Have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GL-5 level. Specialized experience is defined as, experience writing non-technical reports, drafting responses to requests for information, and writing brief, informative or routine reports; gathering information, analyzing it and summarizing the results of your findings; taking responsibility for own actions to meet deadlines; presenting specific, pre-determined information at meetings, conferences, or seminars as a representative of a work or academic group; OR
* A combination of specialized experience, as described above, and related graduate level education.
You are minimally qualified for the GL-09 Level (starting base salary $54,485) if you possess one of the following:
* A master's or equivalent graduate degree (such as LL.B. or J.D.) or two full years of progressively higher graduate education, in a related field, leading to such a degree from an accredited college or university; OR
* Have at least 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GL-7 level such as experience applying law enforcement, protective, or investigative techniques in the performance of job duties; identifying problem areas and proposing and implementing solutions; taking responsibility for own actions and those of team members to ensure the goals and deadlines for the team are met; and leading meetings or seminars on behalf of a professional or academic group; setting work priorities and allocating resources; partnering with other individuals from within and outside the organization; OR
* A combination of specialized experience, as described above, and related graduate level education, beyond the first full year of graduate level study.
You are minimally qualified for the GS-11 Level (Starting base salary $63,795) if you possess one of the following:
* Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.M.; OR
* Have at least 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GL-9 level such as experience in, or related to planning and conducting complex criminal investigations to determine violations of Federal laws and regulations; collecting and assembling facts to identify logical conclusion; gathering, analyzing, and evaluating evidence or data; conducting interviews and interrogations; making arrests; conducting searches and seizures; taking responsibility for own actions and those of team members to ensure the goals and deadlines for the team are met; partnering with or leveraging networks or relationships from outside the organization, experience managing complex projects including setting priorities and determining resource requirements; OR
* A combination of specialized experience, as described above, and related graduate level education beyond two full years of graduate level study.

As part of the application process the applicant will be required to complete the United States Secret Service Applicant Physical Abilities Test (APAT). It is a physical fitness assessment which consists of four components (push-ups, sit-ups, Illinois Agility Run and a 1.5 Mile Run). The APAT is designed to measure the current level of general physical fitness of an applicant, which serves as an indicator of an applicant's ability to safely complete a vigorous physical training program. It evaluates the applicant's ability to perform the physical tasks required on the job by measuring muscular and dynamic strength, endurance, flexibility, aerobic capacity and other factors related to physical aptitude. General Medical Requirements: As determined by OPM the duties of this position require moderate to arduous physical exertion involving walking and standing, use of firearms, and exposure to inclement weather. Manual dexterity with comparatively free motion of fingers, wrist, elbows, shoulders, hips and knee joints is required. Arms, hands, legs and feet must function sufficiently in order for applicants to perform the duties satisfactorily.
Additional information
* Recruitment Incentive: Applicants may be eligible for a $40,000 recruitment incentive in accordance with regulatory requirements. The first installment of $15,000 will be paid following successful completion of Secret Service Criminal Investigator training. A second installment of $10,000 will be paid following one year of service post training and an acceptable performance rating. The final installment of $15,000 will be paid after a third year of service post training and an acceptable performance rating. Provision of these payments require the execution of a three-year Continued Service Agreement (CSA) with the agency. Newly hired employees who resign from the USSS prior to the expiration of the CSA will be required to repay the recruitment incentive. (NOTE: Eligibility is limited to "Newly appointed" Federal employees as defined by 5 CFR 575.102).
Applicants selected for this position will be required to sign a CSA before being assigned to an initial training class. The CSA will commit the applicant to a specified period of employment with the Secret Service upon the successful completion of training.
Applicants will be required to travel to all phases of the hiring process at their own expense. If a final job offer is extended, relocation expenses will not be authorized for first duty location.
The Secret Service prohibits employees from having visible body markings (including but not limited to tattoos, body art and branding) on the head, face, neck, hand and fingers (any area below the wrist bone) (exception a single conservative and unobtrusive tattoo in the form of a ring is authorized on one finger).

This employee performs such duties as collection of taxes, responsibility for a cash drawer, including processing payments and balancing collected funds as required. They answer the phone when needed, assisting taxpayers with questions or problems, performs first contact in person with taxpayer. Must have an out-going personality and positive attitude. Must have great customer service skills. Research will be a major component of this job. This position must work overtime in March and October each year.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide courteous, professional, and efficient customer service to the public, in person, by phone, and in writing.
Accurately process payments in person, over the phone, and by mail.
Print receipts, tax statements, and historical account records upon request or as needed.
Review account history, verify, and update taxpayer information in a timely and accurate manner.
Issue and verify tax clearances for vehicle tag renewals.
Maintain and balance an assigned cash drawer including checks.
Maintain accuracy and strong attention to detail in all tasks to ensure compliance and reduce errors.
Research delinquent accounts and returned mail to determine appropriate follow-up or resolution.
Perform routine clerical duties, including filing, scanning, data entry, and document organization.
Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills to explain county policies, procedures, and state laws clearly and respectfully.
Collaborate professionally with other county departments, state offices, and local agencies.
Handle high volumes of payments and inquiries during peak periods.
Be available for overtime work during peak collection seasons and critical deadlines.
Remain calm and professional during difficult and high-stress situations; demonstrate active listening and de-escalation techniques when handling disgruntled individuals.
Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Knowledge of a specialized field (however acquired), such as basic accounting, basic computer skills, customer service, etc. Equivalent of four years in high school, plus night, trade extension, or correspondence school specialized training, equal to two years of college, plus 19 to 23 months related experience and/or training, and 1 to 6 months related management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

What You'll Do:

SUMMARY
Patrol assigned areas relative to maintaining law and order and public safety. Must insure and protect complete confidentiality of departmental matters.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Enforce the laws of the United States, State of Arkansas and County ordinances.
2. Investigate, report and aid in prosecution of violators.
3. Enforce all rules and regulations of the POA in regard to public safety, traffic and security within Hot Springs Village. Promotes public safety.
4. Prepare written reports and statistics relative to investigations and incidents.
5. Promote an image of respect and courtesy in accordance with POA and Police policies.
6. Regular attendance is required.
7. Provide assistance to HSV residents/citizens.
QUALIFICATIONS The extensive qualifications for a law enforcement officer are established by state law. Generally, a law Enforcement Officer must be 21 years old, possess a high school diploma or its equivalent, must pass a physical and psychological examination, must be free of criminal record and must be thoroughly investigated as to character and ability. Must have a satisfactory driving record.
EDUCATION
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
EXPERIENCE
Must be Law Enforcement certified through Arkansas or any other accredited state. Advancement may vary according to needs and positions available.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret law enforcement periodicals, professional journals, court decrees, court decisions, and governmental rules and regulations. Ability to write reports and make oral presentations.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to perform basic functions of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve problems of a practical and abstract nature. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must possess or attain a Basic Certificate from the Arkansas Commission of Law Enforcement Standards and Training. Must possess a valid Arkansas driver's license and clean driving record with proof of liability insurance.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Must be capable of strenuous running. Must be capable of participating in strenuous firearms and defensive tactics training.
WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Must be able to work in all types of weather at all hours of the day. Must be able to handle various types of stress associated with the position. This is a safety-sensitive position.
MEAL BREAKS Due to the nature of position, unless employee is relieved of all duty during a specified lunch break, such break shall be considered an “on duty” meal period and counted as time worked. An “on duty” meal period shall be permitted only when the nature of the work prevents an employee from being relieved of all duty.
