NIBCO was founded in 1904 and its World Headquarters is based in Elkhart, Indiana.
It became Northern Indiana Brass Foundry Company in 1909.
NIBCO introduced wrot copper fittings in 1937 resulting in lower costs and lighter weight fittings.
When Lee Martin, Ross’ son, took the reins of the company in 1957, he continually worked to improve manufacturing processes and efficiencies.
Construction of new corporate office building in 1977, purchased first computer systems, opened company-owned distribution centers, and developed first corporate image program and branding.
Expanded production into Reynosa, Mexico, by building a valve plant in 1986.
Entered the European market by building a plastic pipe and fittings plant in Lodz, Poland, in 1992.
In 1996, NIBCO doubled the size of its World Headquarters building to 100,000 square feet in Elkhart.
Alice Martin held a variety of leadership positions since joining the NIBCO Board of Directors in 2000.
She was president and co-founder of The Rex and Alice A. Martin Foundation, founded in 2001, which funded the NIBCO Water & Ice Park, along with several other community initiatives in Elkhart, Indiana.
Expanded into PEX plumbing with the acquisition of a manufacturer in Lebanon, Ohio in 2005.
Alice founded the NIBCO Women’s Group in 2010 to help develop and promote women leaders.
In 2019, the company acquired the assets of Milwaukee Valve Company.
